[history]
ALBANY - Senior Democrats yesterday accused Gov. Pataki of capitalizing on the Sept. 11 tragedy to promote his campaign for governor.
The Democrats - nearly all of whom demanded anonymity - said the governor had stepped up a schedule of 9/11-related events in recent days, as next Tuesday's primary - as well as the one-year anniversary of the attack - approached.

Democrats know no shame:
"'Pataki is kind of searching for a way to remind voters' of the tragedy, charged Democratic political consultant Jeff Plaut."
Yeah, I kind of forgot, what was 9/11 all about? Who does this scumbag think he is kidding? Yeah, no one would really remember 9/11 without Pataki going around reminding everyone. Truly shameless in the Clinton/Carville tradition.

They don't have to tell us WHO was anonymous: Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, et al! I'm so tired of their "ALL POLITICS, ALL THE TIME" machine...Pataki was and is Gov of the state that took a terrible loss last year - and he's REPUBLICAN - just too bad for you DEMs - tell me who would be out their with their ugly mugs smooching for the cameras if the DEMs held office during that time?

" They don't have to tell us WHO was anonymous"
These petty remarks can only have come from one sub species of the human race-bill clinton. Pataki is so low key and personally likeable, that the Dems look like contemptible hate mongers for even making this an issue.

"There's no question he is using 9/11," said one of the state's best-known Democrats, who insisted his name not be used. Of course he's going to insist on his name not being used; he doesn't want to get his ass handed to him by everyone - as he knows it would be.

Should the Governor not attend memorial and other ceremonial functions in the run-up to 9/11/2002 just because some people might think this was political? If the Governor missed even one of these events, you know the Demoncrats would be all over it, because it shows that he is "uncaring" or "detatched".
Actions speak louder than words. Rudy attended hundreds of funerals. Hillary! attended only two, where she knew there would be television coverage. Maybe Pataki is just trying to do the right thing.
That said, I have to decide whether George Pataki's recent television commercial where he spends thirty seconds of TV time just to say "Thank You" might not step over the line. It just seems a little to calculated to me, and I think he would have been wiser to not run it. But I'm pretty sensitive to these things, so I guess most people probably have no problem with the ad.

When your party is in trouble over an issue, you then accuse the other guys of "trying to take advantage" of the issue. This is an admission that you have nothing positive to say about your own party. It accomplishes little other than to reawaken the animosities of your core constituents. It looks like democrats have given up on the middle, and are trying to win through inflaming their core to the utmost.

so if he's in danger of stepping over the line, should'nt the dems hush up and let him? hahahahahaahh

EVERYBODY in politics is exploiting 9/11, so is the media.
It's a shame how far we have devolved in a year.
Probably by next year we'll see the malls advertising 9/11 special sales.
