May I add a little message?

Mr. Saddam,

It's all over. I strongly suggest that you pack your bags and start plotting your quiet departure from Iraq, along with all your family, because that's the only option you have left.

Last time, America kicked your ass without even breaking a sweat. Your chances of winning this time are still zero. In fact, last time, your chances of staying in power were pretty good. This time, they're nonexistent.

Yes, Americans know you've foolishly been preparing to inflict as much pain as possible on the United States. But now that you're staring down the barrel of a very large gun, does that still look to be such a good idea? You must by now be well aware that rumors of American weakness have been greatly exaggerated -- especially now that we have a real President instead of the circus clown we Americans somehow elected during a temporary lapse of national sanity.

And if you've grown stronger since our last match, then know this -- we are stronger as well. And now, we're growing stronger every minute -- and have vast national resources we haven't even begun to bring into play.

Oh, and those weapons of mass destruction you're planning to use against us? I strongly suggest you quietly put those right back under the table, because you STILL haven't seen America get *really* pissed. It would be an excellent idea to begin working real hard on what American businessmen call an "exit strategy." If you behave well, and accept the inevitable with grace and dignity, then you just might be able to cut some kind of a deal and get out of this with your skin intact.

I hear Brazil is nice this time of year.

On the other hand, if you decide to "punish America and strike fear in the heart of the enemies," then your personal future, as well as that of your family, is going to be extremely bleak indeed.

And a word to the people of Iraq:

You've suffered long and hard under a sadistic dictator. Relief and freedom are coming.

When it comes, learn and follow closely the path of democracy.

Why should you do this? Is it because we Americans want to bring our political system to the world? No.

You should follow democracy because the democratic path has brought prosperity and a better life to essentially every nation that has ever seriously attempted to implement it: the United States, all the countries of Western Europe, Turkey, Russia, India (not there yet, but getting there), South Korea, the list goes on and on.

An insistence upon genuine democracy will work for you, too. A far better life awaits.
