Chestnuts....Tall.... Once the twin American Chestnuts stood tall and proud above the forest. None could compare to their grandeur. The steadfast Oaks below stood strong and true and helped lift the great twin chestnuts into the heavens. Suddenly the Great Twin American Chestnuts were struck......struck by a strange and devious axe....something derisive and unexpected.... But still the Chestnuts stood their ground and remained high even though their trunks were splintered by the treacherous blow.....the shattered trunks still remained tall and proud, but then slowly, little by little the shattered trunks did sway, mortal indeed were the insults to the mighty trunks. The great trunks did then twist and fall to the forest....But then...a mighty chorus arose from the Oak trees below, that had now become kings of the forest....they resounded in unison....let us lift our branches high and none can tear us asunder, now we are one and we care for each other.
