You are correct. There are several of these nuts who teach courses in "whiteness" and "white culture" and all the other gobbledygook at U-Minn and MacAlester College in the Twin Cities and elsewhere. I believe there is a professor Roediger at U-Minn and one named Meigs at MacAlester who teach these witless classes. But these wackos do not actually advocate eliminating "white" people as some respondents on this thread are assuming. They want to destroy the concept of thinking of oneself as white. I happen to agree with the idea that race is made up unless your believe in the Irish race, the Scottish race, etc. Obviously there are differences in people around the world.

But these kooks are only interested in taking wealth from "white" people and transferring it to "people of color". It's just another variant of Marxist redistribution practices advocating taking from the producers and giving to the non-producers. I'm sure those "privileged" white people living in Appalachia will whole-heartedly concur with people like Ignatiev that they are recipients of exorbitant unearned benefits accrued to them from their pale skin pigmentation (har,har). Their bone-crushing poverty is a much better type than that of a "person of color".
