And given that, the electorate applauded Reagan's leadership ability. All Clinton had to do is coast on the wave of economic prosperity that Reagan/Bush had enabled, and not screw things up. Thanks to the Gingrich takeover of the congress in 1994, Clinton wasn't permitted to screw things up, and thus the economy prospered. To his credit, Clinton didn't rock the boat. To his eternal shame, he sold influence, politicized Federal agencies, weakened our national defence, commited treason, and on and on and on. He should still be tried for treason, IMO.
