What's wrong with dishwashers? In the long run, they probably don't use more water than washing by hand. Also, families who used dishwashers have less colds and dysentery.

You've never seen my wife load a dishwasher. She has no confidence in them, yet uses them anyway.

She cleans the dishes well enough by hand that they can be eaten on and THEN loads them into the dishwasher and ALWAYS uses the heated drying cycle before going to bed.

Me, I can load one in ten minutes, turn it on and forget about it till tomorrow.

I never use the heat cycle because I won't come back before the dishes drip dry irregardless of whether the heat cycle is used or not. (The steam re-condenses on the dishes because they don't ventilate) It also saves my tupperware and my kid's sippycup tops.

Not that I'm environmental, but I do hate wasting money on electricity.
