Well, Coop, if I were a betting man, which I am, I'd say that Kirk's internal polling is telling him that the Gramm ads, combined with active identification by George W. with Cornyn, are starting to wear on any undecideds in East Texas and are turning them towards the Republicans.

If I were Cornyn, I'd pour it on.

What say you?

I'd say something caused Mr. Kirk to change his tone. Whether it's a tactical move, as you suggest, or simply an emotional reaction to ads and criticism remains to be seen.
