OK. You've made your point. I'll come over to your viewpoint. Just need that campaign statement or perhaps a letter by Bill (and only Bill) under his signature to the conservative, social right in Cal. (any organization will do, pro-family, what not), stating that his answers to the Gay Lobby were taken out of context and that he in fact does not stand for a number of the things he said (in reply to the G.L.). How's that for a compromise?
No State Senate intermediary 'Ambassadors to The Right'. No slick campaign spinning to appease both polarized sides. No wishy washy vague statements. A retraction will do the trick. I hope and am sure that the conservative base for Simon is important enough to him that this could be achieved, maybe in a radio interview or a column or something like that. :-)
No conditions on this one. You've got to be willing to trust people like Haynes and others on this, and allow Simon to concentrate on Davis. Gray Davis is the enemy, he's the major target. I have no problem with holding Simon's feet to the fire, but AFTER the election.
