Well, it had to come to this. It either gets settled in the legislature or the courts because Eastin doesn't have a leg to stand on regarding the R4 affidavits and she knows it. There are how many homeschoolers in CA? Something like 122,000 registered? They better call their legislators and work something out that will be beneficial to them. Don't think the legislature is going to give Eastin everything she wants. She's one person, one vote, that's all. There is power in numbers.

There are a lot more than 122,000. We homeschool under the aegis of an accredited private, Christian school and therefore don't show up on the State radar.

Something like 122,000 registered?

You know what I think would be interesting? Wait until the enrollment numbers have been tallied and turned in so that the Federal funding is fixed and unchangeable.

Then have all 122,000 turn up at the already overcrowded schools and say, "You win, here's my kid. Put him(her) in a classroom."

Then have the "former" homeschoolers threaten a class action lawsuit against the school district for the overcrowding.

Think the CA DOE would cry Uncle?

Of course, the homeschoolers would still have to homeschool to deprogram their kids while the bureaucrats were scrambling for a response.

Shalom.

Don't worry! As a result of my unfortunate encounters on that other thread today, I am fully convinced that all Delaine Eastin need do is announce that all California public schools will immediately institute a dress code and corporal punishment, and all these "outraged conservatives" will quickly forget about homeschooling and begin to sycophantically support the govt. schools. Sigh.
