Hizbullah Wakes Up, Wounds Three Soldiers After four months of nothing more than mostly harmless anti-aircraft fire across the northern border, Lebanese Hizbullah terrorists fired anti-tank rockets at the IDF's Har Dov outpost this afternoon. Three soldiers were wounded in the heavy onslaught, including one in "moderate" condition. Israeli helicopters and mortar batteries returned fire.

Three IDF soldiers injured by Hezbollah shelling at Har Dov

By Uri Ash, Ha'aretz Correspondent, and Agencies

Three IDF soldiers were wounded Thursday afternoon in exchanges of fire along the northern border between Hezbollah guerillas and IDF soldiers. One of the soldiers was reported to be moderately wounded, while the other two soldiers were said to have been lightly hurt.

The soldier who was moderately wounded was taken by helicopter to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

The shelling began at about 5 P.M. when Hezbollah guerillas aimed anti-tank missiles at two IDF outposts in the Har Dov region. The IDF retaliated with airstrikes and 155 mm artillery fire on suspected Hezbollah hideouts on hills on the outskirts of Kfar Chouba, a small farming village near the Shaaba Farms area, Lebanese officials said.

Two IAF warplanes fired two missiles at a valley on the outskirts of Kfar Chouba, the officials said. The exchanges of fire have since ceased.

There were no immediate reports of casualties among Lebanese.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, the first on the Shaaba Farms in four months. In a statement issued in Beirut, Hezbollah said its guerrillas scored "direct hits."

Israel seized the mountainous Shaaba Farms from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War along with the neighboring Golan Heights.

The area is now claimed by Beirut, with the consent of Damascus. The United Nations, however, says that the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in May 2000 was complete, and that any negotiations conducted over the area should be between Israel and Syria.

This is very significant, but perhaps unsurprising. Iraq and Iran are desperately trying to get Israel to launch a major offensive against Syria or anybody for that matter. This will lead to worldwide condemnation especially from Europe, and create an even higher barrier for us to attack Saddam and then Iran (which is hopefully our plan).
The suicide attacks have been pretty much foiled due to Israel's military actions, so the next best thing is paying Hezbollah to start shelling Israel.
Why can't we just say to hell with it, team up with Israel, and start rolling our tanks across the entire middle east? Let's be honest with ourselves.

I whole heartedly agree. What is the consequence? The "Arab" street will be furious at the US and prompt militants to attach us? Oh wait, that is already the case. There is no other recourse.

It seems that too many people have lost focus in less than a year after 9/11. It is as if 9/11 never happened.

In the end, I hope that is what happens.
