Dole is a stand up Republican and will do what she's told by their leadership...

McCain on the other hand disregards listening to anybody but himself...

Darth Sidious, meaning no disrespect: could you define for me precisely what a "real" conservative is? Question is meant seriously. Am hoping for a serious answer.

Dole is a stand up Republican and will do what she's told by their leadership...

Can you think of any reason a family needs an AK-47 or an Uzi to protect their family or go hunting?” asked Dole, who favors child safety locks on guns and instant background checks on people trying to buy guns. Source: Chris Burritt, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Jun 4, 1999

[Dole] called for measures like retaining the prohibition on assault weapons, backing a ban on armor-piercing bullets, and favoring child safety locks on guns. “I certainly believe in the Second Amendment and a person’s right to bear arms. But... you don’t need an AK-47 to defend your family.” Source: New York Times, 5/4/99, p. A18, col. 1-2 May 4, 1999

In remarks prepared for a womens forum in D.C., on Tuesday, Dole stated "I think it's wrong to let people carry concealed weapons." She continued saying, "I believe Americans want their presidents to be inspiring, effective and confident...and determined to ensure the safety of our kids on the streets and in their schools -- even if it means having the guts to stand up to the gun lobby."

Here

Giddy Dolt is no conservative. Don't even ask about her position on choice, homosexuals, government intrusion into our lives, or tariffs. You like seatbelts? You like being FORCED to wear them? Thank her. How about airbags? You like those and the extra cost incurred into the purchase of a new car? Thank her. How about those wonderful OSHA regulations X42 signed into law that Bush overrode when he came into office? You know who started that whole fiasco of 'research' while she was at OSHA in the '80s?

Real conservative North Carolinians don't want her

Elizabeth Dole is going to win the primary on September 10, and there will be no runoff. For those who want to support retaining the seat in the Senate so we can get conservative judges approved by the Senate, I have given the link for use after the primary.

GOP Places Bet on Louisiana [Senate] Race

In head-to-head matchups, Landrieu barely went more than 50 percent against each of the three Republicans. Against Cooksey, Landrieu had 52 percent of the vote to Cooksey's 37 percent; Terrell, 51 percent to 38 percent; and Perkins 53 percent to 35 percent.

Not if conservatives can help it. Hey I heard Snyder looks strong down in Charlotte and in the rural areas. Somebody better call WRAL-TV and tell them somebody besides Giddy is running, cause I don't think they know

Greetings FReepers,

I just returned home from a fund raiser for Doug Forrester at Robert Ray's house (the Clinton special prosecutor) in Rumson, NJ. A young precinct captain and I arrived early and got to talk with Bob Ray for 10 minutes before anyone else arrived. Bob Ray could not have been more gracious. He is renovating an 1890's home to better than its original condition. Very nice. I'm glad Mrs. Palm didn't see it. It would have given her too many ideas.

Others began to arrive and we stayed off to the side. This was not our show. Joe Kyrillos, Joe Azzolino, John Bennett, among others were present. Staying in one spot payed off as everyone else rotated by. We got to speak directly with Doug Forrester for almost ten minutes. Doug is a WYSIWYG candidate. What You See Is What You Get. He was open, accessable, and told us what he thought in no uncertain terms. He answered our questions openly and directly. We would NOT have gotten the same treatment from Torricelli as Dems.

When it came time for him to speak, we happened to be standing behind him next to Bob Ray and Mrs. Forrester. (There wasn't time to get out of the way or we would have.) Doug's speach was direct and powerful. He will make an outstanding Senator.

One thing he did say was telling. While he has a 12% lead in the polls, he has a 30+% lead among those who have heard of the Senate Ethics Committee report. Also, 41% of NJ residents polled haven't heard of the report.

If you want to do ONE thing to help Doug, get a copy of the report from the Forrester website and show it to as many people as possible.

It's time to put out the Torch!

My husband said that the governor who might have forced Landrieu into a runoff due to open primary votes has now withdrawn from the race. Not sure this seat is any longer in play.

There has been positive news in La. Ga. Ia. Ar. and SD. since I published my thread three days ago.

GOP incumbent Tim Hutchinson (AR) trails by 10 points in an independent media poll released today.

Thune and Johnson (SD) are dead even at 40-40 in an independent media poll released yesterday.

What is the positive news from the other states you've mentioned?

Your husband is correct in that Gov. Forester chose not to enter the fray...... However the RNSC has just comitted a $500,000 to Terrell in this race base upon the polling. They think if they can get it into a run off then the Republican has a chance. If the polling data I quoted is anywhere close to accurate then the race may well be in play for a run off. And that data doesn't include either Democrat candidates Fields or Brown in the mix.

From the same article linked above.....

Landrieu is also held under 50 percent in a four-way race with Republican contenders U.S. Rep. John Cooksey of Monroe, state Rep. Tony Perkins of Pride and state Elections Commissioner Suzanne Terrell.

So yes it seems at least to the National Republican Senatorial Committee the seat may be in play.

I wonder what the picture is going to look like in a month.

The Dems are pumping the manure through the media nonstop and there's always the wild card of terrorism and war to shift the dialog.

It's going to be a fight to the finish in my opinion, and anyone who wants to see conservative judges approved by the Senate should fork over some cash to the fight.

Time to put our money where our mouths are. Lots of candidates to select from if you're the choosey type about who you will allow in your foxhole.

You know, I really want to be optimistic. I have a feeling it will be close, but the Republicans will STILL be the minority in the Senate. Someone please convince me otherwise.
