A Pinellas deputy removes a .50-caliber rifle from the Seminole townhouse of Dr. Robert Goldstein on Thursday.
SEMINOLE -- Picking through a pile of firearms and explosives in a Seminole townhouse, Pinellas sheriff's deputies and federal agents found dozens of legal weapons, several suspected bombs and one rifle that has raised hackles from Washington to California.
The .50-caliber rifle, like the one discovered late Thursday at the home of Pinellas podiatrist Robert Goldstein, is one of the most-discussed legal weapons on the market today.

Why aren't the anti-freedom leftists screaming about the car this guy drives while they're at it? It has about as much to do with his crimes as his firearms collection.

But since Goldstein is not a felon, had not been convicted of domestic violence and was not adjudicated mentally ill, it appears that he could keep as many of those as he wanted. Oh yes, how horrible that a citizen with no criminal record should be allowed to "keep as many of those as he wanted." < /sarcasm >

More background on this fellow, Robert Goldstein, can be found by going to
THIS LINK, entering "Robert Goldstein", and then checking out the articles that pop up. One in particular is "Podiatrist's arsenal part of blueprint for terror". I don't know exactly what the whole story is here, but it appears he was planning on attack an Islamic center, and his (estranged) wife turned him in.
Great...

I mentioned to my wife several days ago that the media was really playing up the video of that one weapon. I knew then that the grabbers were going to be coming in hard and heavy. The crimes this guy is accused of had nothing to do with the ownership or possession of the firearms he had, but that was all the liberal media wanted to talk about or show.
The man had an incredible collection of weapons. It's a crying damn shame that they are all going to be turned into scrap. Especially since they were all legal for him to own and had nothing to do with the crimes with which he is charged.

Two things that I got from this article
Chuck Murphy
Rebecca Bruno
to add to the list of names on "Kukko's list"
To: Joe Brower
Oh and I forgot to add the fat f... deppity dawg posing with the rifle he stole also needs to be added to the list.
One again let's hear it from the neo-Nazis about how the police on on our side. The jerk in the picture obviously isn't bothered by anything so quaint as the Bill of Rights.

Senatrix Barbara Boxer keeps calling .50 cal rifles "sniper rifles". None of the snipers I ever knew used them. They always preferred 7.62mm.

.50 cal - where's those buffalo when ya need to shoot something? Actually, I thought it was cool those old Sharps .50 caliber buffalo rifles used to come with coffee grinders in the stocks.

Why was this article edited to an excerpt? Was it some posting guideline that we haven't been advised of? I knew already that the L.A. Times and Washington Post are limited to excerpts only -- is the St. Pete Times also included in this list?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Actually, the .50 cal. has become a valuable sniper weapon in certain situations such as Afghanistan, enabling experts to "reach out and touch someone" at extremely long ranges in the mountains. The Canadian team had a world record shot recently using a .50.

to add to the list of names on "Kukko's list" Do you mean the *Cheka list* database of those stukachi [snitches] informing on fellow citizens and working with the secret police to limit citizen's liberties, as in post WWI- revolutionary Russia, when the Communist NKVD began tracking and eliminating their perceived enemies? Murphy and Bruno have been so listed for several years, at least since 1996 or so....

Nice gun to hunt armidillos with. Boom, no more armadillo.

Well, Dillos are one strange critter to clean, but not bad eatin', so a .50 might be a bit of overkill.
I've zipped many with just a .22lr -- just the right round for 'em out to a 100 yards or so. When you hit them they leap four feet into the air on those stubby little legs. It's rather hilarious.
That new .17 WMR might be good medicine for them too. I know an old fellow with one of those new Ruger bolt actions chambered for this round, and it shoots .4" consistently out to 50 yards. Over twenty years ago, a friend of mine had a Remington chambered for the .17 Rem., and I hit a Dillo running full steam out around 100 yards. Didn't even have to lead him. With that HV round, though (close to 4,000 fps), he was shredded to badly to eat...

Do you mean the *Cheka list* ...Sort of. Kukko is a character from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado who
"has a little list
of people who won't be missed"
I suspect that once the confiscations start there won't be time to do a lot of research :-(

Oh, and one other thing, I can't seem to see the actual list. Am I missing some secret in how to view it? It isn't doing any good if you can't see who the turncoats are.
