"Iran's motives are not entirely clear. Its seemingly contradictory actions may be explained by tensions between reformers and conservatives within the government, Arab officials said. Moreover, the hard-line conservatives, in sheltering al Qaeda, do not appear to be acting out of any innate sympathy for bin Laden's group, the sources said."
Oh brother. Iran supports Al Qaeda because it will do its dirty work for them, disrupting oil competitors like Russia, central Asia and the Caucasus. Probably will back stab Saudi too.

You know my feelings. These are the most dangerous of all the Islamakazis in the Middle East, the ancient Mullah thugs of Iran.
They started this hate America Bravo Sierra when they overthrew the Shah, seized our embassy and Jimmy Carter laid down to honor them.
We need to spend about 24 hours taking out the top 3-4 levels of the Islamakazi Mullah thugs and their incredibly weak and out of date military. Then, the good people in Iran would finish the job in less than a week.
That would be the beginning of the end for Iraq, Syria and then the Saudi Opecker Princes. Iran has a lot of good airfields from which it will be easy to hammer Saddam's trouble makers from.
Their oil and gas in the hands of a real free market democracy would break the back of Opec in weeks. Break Opec's back, and most of the Islamakazi terrorism will just dry up from lack of funds and leadership.
