And now, gentle freepers, I bid you good night...
Sweet Pea
Tommy Roe
I went to a dance just the other night
I met a girl there she was out of sight
I asked a friend of mine who she could be
he said that her friends just call her Sweet Pea
(chorus)
Oh Sweet Pea
come on and dance with me
come on come on come on and dance with me
Oh Sweet Pea
come on and be my girl
come on come on come on and be my girl
I walked on over and asked her to dance
thinkin' maybe later of makin' romance
but every guy there was thinkin'; like me
I had to stand in line to get a dance with Sweet Pea
(chorus repeat)
I finally got to whisper sweet words in her ear
convinced that we oughta get away from there
we took a little walk I held her close to me
and underneath the stars I said to Sweet Pea
Oh Sweet Pea I love you can't you see
Love you love you love you can't you see
Oh Sweet Pea come on and be my girl
come on come on come on and be my girl

Is that supposed to be funny? I don't see the humor in it.

I don't see the humor in it.Thak you Fred. You are very astute. I don't see the humor in it either. How about a group hug, bigboy?

"Well, the Pina Colada song rates right up there with Afternoon Delight if you ask me!"
How about this ???
Nibbling on sponge cake, watching the sun bake,
All of those tourists covered with oil,
Strumming my six string, on my front porch swing,
Smell those shrimp, they're beginning to boil.
CHORUS:
Wasting away again in Margaritaville,
Searching for my lost shaker of salt,
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know it's nobody's fault.
Don't know the reason that I stayed here all season,
With nothing to show but this brand new tattoo,
But it's a real beauty, a Mexican cutie,
How it got here I haven't a clue.
(CHORUS)
Blew out my flipflop, stepped on a poptop
Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home,
But there's booze in the blender,
And soon it will render,
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on.
(CHORUS)
Yes, some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
And I know it's my own damn fault

Well, I think THIS is a an appropriate Buffett for the thread! It is a starting fresh song I think. I know that if I couldn't laugh I would go insane...
I hope it hasn't been done already!
CHANGES IN LATITUDES, CHANGES IN ATTITUDES Jimmy Buffett
I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year.
All of the faces and all of the places,
wonderin' where they all disappeared.
I didn't ponder the question too long;
I was hungrey and went out for a bite.
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum,
and we wound up drinkin' all night.
It's those changes in latitudes,
changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.
With all of our running and all of our cunning,
If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane.
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes;
Nothing remains quite the same.
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands,
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane
Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I've been.
Visions of good times that brought
so much pleasue
makes me want to go back again.
If it suddenly ended tomarrow,
I could somehow adjust to the fall.
Good times and riches and son of a bitches,
I've seen more than I can recall...(to chorus)
I think about Paris when I'm high on red wine;
I wish I could jump on a plane.
And so many nights I just dream of the ocean.
God, I wish I was sailin' again.
Oh, yesturdays are over my shoulder,
So I can't look back for too long.
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me,
and I know that I just can't go wrong
with these...(to chorus)

I read some of that 3,500+ thread, and I was very glad to see what you & Jim Rob wrote in this one. Saying I'm sorry goes a long way with most people. It is sad when the very people at FR who should be close allies become bitter enemies instead. I wish I didn't know that first-hand.

I like "Savannah Fare You Well" and "Tonight I Just Need My Guitar" best of the album but also the ones you mention.
Somehow I think Amman & Dubai might be a little too close to the action this fall. Might ought to look at Tanzania.
