Having been the focus of a crank letter investigation, one mistake Hatfill is making is offering handwriting exemplars. Handwriting analysis is no recognized science and the FBI will surely have personel that are willing to say he is the maker of the letters. In my case the investigators went to several labs who turned thumbs down on id'ing me, and they finally found a stooge at the Postal Inspectors office in San Bruno willing to give them his say so. Only when the stooge's own teacher expressed doubts as to the handwriting analysis was the case dropped. I later sued for arrest without probable cause and won, but was hardly compensated for being jailed for a month. The FBI is a vengeful organization that deals with its critics regardless of the passage of time. See "Tainting Evidence" the book about the phony FBI crime lab.

There's another thread re: this if you wonder where everyone is. BTTT. I think they're trying to set up Ashcroft so they can try to remove him as usag when they return from their vacation. Hatfill is just a pawn but there's something odd going on. The only time I hear about Hatfill is from Hatfill. If he doesn't want attention, get off of my tv!

US firm in Pakistan gets anthrax letter

Muhammad Najeeb in Islamabad

Two anthrax attack cases involving multinational companies, including an American firm, have occurred in Pakistan, but officials are trying to keep them under wraps for reasons unknown, reports said.

A report in The News and the Jang dailies said last week senior executives at two business organisations in Karachi -- an international bank and a computer-marketing firm -- received international mail that carried anthrax spores with some powdery material.

A number of staff members at both the organisations are now being treated for anthrax.

A senior staff member at the main laboratory of the Aga Khan University and Hospital in Karachi said tests have revealed that one of the two mails was loaded with anthrax, while the other had traces of the bacterium.

Medical experts say since the first cases of anthrax have already been confirmed in Pakistan, authorities must immediately launch a public awareness exercise as almost all forms of anthrax, if caught early, can be cured.

We don't know what evidence the FBI has, so any talk of whether Hatfield is guilty or not or speculation.

But if I had to speculate, based on his performance at the press conference, my speculation is that he's guilty. I don't think he was credible.

But it's all speculation. I for one am content to wait to see what evidence the FBI has. I think conspiracy talk in this thread is silly. The FBI's not going to screw up an investigation this big. I figure they've got to know something we don't. (Which means, in particular, that they haven't been leaking their best stuff.)

Gosh, I must have missed when and where Hatfill was charged with a crime. He sure seems adamant he didn't do something he hasn't been accused of doing.

"the FBI will surely have personel that are willing to say he is the maker of the letters"

Uh huh, and don't overlook how after his first press conference, they saturated that area in NJ with his picture, maybe attempting to plant in the minds of witnesses this particular face? I love how they came up with anthrax spores in the postal mail box too, after all the time that had passed, AFTER he gave a press conference the first time. He's playing with fire, and maybe he thinks going public was best, but when someone else has ALL the power, I don't think that could help him. I pray that if he's innocent, they don't frame him - but...
