The Prime Minister of England, in the name of the Queen, appoints the Archbishop of Canterbury. (And a very poor choice this go-round, I might add!)

How does this differ from the Three-Self Patriotic Christian movement of China? I'm not saying it's right or wrong in either case, but we sure don't hear much yelping about the poor persecuted British Christians these days...

The Church of England is a National Church but other churches are neither suppressed or controlled. A gud number of countries have national religions without criminalizing other religions. Japan is an example. The road may not be smooth for competing religions but they do not jail adherents now.
