It might be worth noting that the terrorist Abu Nidal, who seems to have met his demise inside Baghdad city limits, was a founding member of the Palestinian terrorist group known as Black September (if names and dates have any significance)...

Haboush claimed Abu Nidal entered Iraq illegaly in 1999, and committed "suicide" by at least four shots to his brain.

Thanks, great pics. Abu must have had one quick trigger finger ; )

Dio, thanks for the ping.

I hadn't heard that the German police or government accepted the Iraqi claim that the attackers on the embassy were "Americans or Zionists".

In any case the police did what they had to do. I am pleased nobody was hurt.

The attackers were idiots and no better than the hostage takers at the U.S. embassy in Teheran in 1979.

Saddam Hussein will be knocked off shortly, I hope, and this episode soon forgotten.

The first picture reminds me of "Goose" taking a picture in the movie "top gun". Had to be inverted to get it.

I can't believe the mindless US press parrotted the notion that Abu Nadil committed suicide. As my hubby said, "yeah, he died in a hail of suicidal gunfire...."

Thanks for all of the photos you post Diogenesis. Our son has an air ambulance unit at Bagram (Blackhawks) activated from the Oregon National Guard, and we keep looking for photos of him or his unit. Thanks again.

As part of National Military Appreciation Month, the Department of Defense is gathering signatures on a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military for defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only about 547,000 names. It is really easy. The web page brings up a space to type your name, city and state.

Taking over an embassy is a terrorist action. Even if it's Sadly Insane's embassy, it cannot be allowed and should not be celbrated. . It very well could of been fringe whackos on our side of the fence.

Thanks for the ping.

So....who killed Nidal?

Could we of done it? SAS? Iraqis? Arafat? His mother?

All of the above a more believable than Nidal himself...
