If California's budget impasse goes on much longer, parolees won't get $200 for bus tickets and hotel rooms, litter will pile up along highways in Los Angeles, and the Tower Bridge in Sacramento won't be repainted in time for the Christmas shopping season, officials said Wednesday.

An obvious solution to this problem is to delete
many state programs and agencies that have nothing
to do with basic state functions. Such as "feel good"
legislation and agencies created to satisfy enviro-
whacko's.

Nope, instead, the wacko leftist legislators are giving up on smoking taXes and now eyeing alcohol taX increases,, It would be a much more broad and thus "fair" application of a tax as it wouldn;t discriminate as a tobacco tax would. Go Figure.
Heaven Forbid We cut anything! Nothing BUT Idiots on the left side of the aisle and in the Guv's Office.
Stand Fast, Republicans!!

It obvious truth has finaly dawned on Republicans in the Assembly.
If you want smaller government simply do nothing. Resist the pressure from the special interest groups (felons, litterbugs, bridge painters, geologists, archaeologists, and the feeble minded). Keep on doing nothing and government will continue to shrink.
I recon it will be about the right size by December 2002.

Let's hope the Republicans don't cave like they have in the past. The proposed Davis budget is not balanced so that he can come back next year after the election for massive tax increases. Our legislature has been out of control for years. Now, this year, Davis is agreeing to sign every piece of crap they throw at him.
Are you ready for the 3% surcharge on your electricity bill so that we can subsidize the cost of generating 20% of our electricity from "renewable" sources by 2017? It is passing and Davis will sign it. As if we aren't paying more than double what we used to pay due to Davis' mismanagement of the electricity crisis.

Prior to your parole you must A. Paint Tower Bridge for one week.
or B. Clean up litter along the highways for one week. Otherwise you will forfeit your $200.00 walkin' around money. Or is that cruel and unusual punishment in Ca.

Prior to your parole you must A. Paint Tower Bridge for one week. or B. Clean up litter along the highways for one week.Exactly. Where's the creative problem solving approach in all this. Furthermore, fire ONE state employee and you could buy as many trash bags as you needed for decades.
Maybe Californians could get creative and each send one trash bag in an envelope to Caltrans.
