Unless their families where in Texas before 1835 or the rest of the Southwest before 1845, they are not returning.
The truth is that Texas was sparsely popluated. Mexico could not hold it from the native Indians. That is why Mexico invited Americans to settle it in the early 19th century. (Their mistake.)
