One problem that you have is the disunity in Iraq. There are three factions at work trying to pull three different ways. To keep Iraq united would take a repressive central government. That is what we are concerned about now.

Turkey does not want the Kurds to gain any more power. Saudi Arabia does not want the Sunnis to gain any more power. Iran would love to gain the Sunni region of Iraq but does not want more problems with the Kurds in their area.

Sadaam's Baathist party has affiliations with the Syrians. The British exited the Middle East with no consideration of the make-up of the different countries and the ethnic make-up of their respective areas. Anybody that feels they have the answer to this riddle needs to step up to the plate and make some suggestions.
