What makes you assume that Traficant doesn't have religion? Come to think of it, what has it even got to do with his case? Either he was railroaded or he wasn't. Whether or not he wants to get "beamed into the Kingdom of Heaven" or not doesn't have much to do with his LEGAL CASE.
