This movie was good.It didn't run down the image of those of us who served in that war.It showed something about leaders who are loyal to their men and men loyal to each other.None of the Hollywood leftist relativism. The book was better because it was history. This is a dramatization. It's the attitude of the film that hits home in a positive way.It allows us to see that sometimes you're just faced with absolutes-no time to theorize and discuss things. The impact on the families was skillfully interwoven."Blackhawk Down" was also worthwhile, but it related an isolated incident in the midst of a mission with no clearly defined purpose.Vietnam just went on and on-it was the defining aspect of my generation along with the Cold War.

I read the book and just finished the movie. I also appreciated having the deleted scenes because I really missed having the unit march in formation at the end. It is in the deleted scenes. I thought the movie was quite well done and was very respectful of our men.
I will always be grateful for our brave soldiers who fought in Nam. I will never forgive the politicians and the idiot Generals who used the war for personal gain.
Thanks to all you Viet Nam vets who are Freepers.
