...We of CUSTER's U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment say .."GARRY OWEN, Sir".. when we salute each other rather than the normal greeting because we are CUSTER's .."GARRY OWEN".. Regiment.
...THOMAS MOORE (Amazing...?) wrote the lyrics to this Irish Song .."GARRY OWEN".. that Gen. CUSTER first overheard the Irish Members of his 7th Cav Troop playing and singing, liked it and left it in.
.."GARRY OWEN".. is now the Regimetnal Song for the entire 1st Cavalry Division, a most familiar tune.
GARRY OWEN, Sir

RONNIE, I just finished watching the movie on DVD with my youngest son. We took our time, absorbing it over 3 nights. It's an incredible film about incredible Americans. The DVD also has deleted scenes that are just as fascinating to watch, along with behind the scenes footage from the director/actors/authors' point of view. Every American from 16 on up should see this movie and be proud to know that American men fought and died for each other, are doing so now, and will continue to do so.
