Out of approximately 180,000 votes cast by Missouri residents approximately 80,000 were cast for the Jackson design
From here.
Lots of info on the US Mint screwing over not only the artist but the citizens of Missouri that thought this was the best design and made an effort to vote...which was wasted since NONE of the designs are even going to be on the coin.
Not only that, it's completely friggin' annoying if you live on the Canadian boarder. I am SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO f****** sick of pulling change out to pay for something, looking down and saying "What the f*** is this? A f****** Canadian quarter? Oh. No. It's another new f****** state quarter."
This program serves no useful purpose. It's like having 50 different designs for dollar bills in circulation. The whole program is a perfect example of why a government is the last group of people who should be allowed to make decisions.
There is only one way this stupid assed program could be redeemed: If the Washington State quarter had two heads. That would actually be amusing.
