Can someone sum up the significance of this primary? Rush said the Dems have a phone message warning Republicans not to vote as a Denocrat "without proper documentation', which is a lie, it's an open primary and anyone can vote for anyone they want. Why would a Republican want to vote for a certain Democrat? Sorry if this is old news that I should know.

They are playing with the words. You do need proper documentation to vote.

That would be some form of identification, and it would be required of someone voting from either party.

Why would a Republican want to vote for a certain Democrat?

There is no way that a Republican will beat Cynthia McKinney in the General Election; therefore, the strategy is to get Republicans to "crossover" and vote for McKinney's opponent (Denise Majette) in the Democratic Primary election. That is our only hope and hold on because it just might work!
