DPA, October 19, 2001

SARAJEVO, Oct 18, 2001 (Deutsche Presse-Agentur) -

Posters supporting suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden have emerged in several cities in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia in the last ten days, United Nations officials and media reports said Thursday.

Most of the cases were reported in Bosnia´s capital of Sarajevo and the northern city of Tuzla. Local police have opened investigations.

A huge poster with the message "We want third and fourth world war for Islam, long live Laden" written in English was found at the Secondary Medical School in downtown Sarajevo earlier this month, UN spokesman Stefo Lehman told reporters in Sarajevo.

In another, later case one Bosnian Moslem was seen by local police pasting a poster that stated "Wake up all Moslems for Osama bin Laden" on a wall.

Local police also arrested two Bosnian Moslems while they were posting posters at a Sarajevo main street. According to the UN, the two were found to be members of a pro-Moslem organization called Islamic Bosnia. The posters included arousing propaganda to provoke Moslem people to fight on Allah´s path.

Meanwhile, Croatian police have confiscated six portraits of bin Laden in a high school in the eastern town of Slavonski Brod, Vecernji list daily said Thursday.

The Vecernji report said there was a slogan under each portrait of the terrorist leader saying "Hero, not a criminal".

No Pro Osama posters to be found anywhere in Serbian lands.
