I toured Verdun battlefield, and the stories of WW I and the use of gas are just terrible. Even the NAZIs were afraid to use the stuff on the battlefield during the Second World War--they feared it so much. The victims of the Holocaust were not so fortunate.
I experienced gas only once--and it was training gas. I had a chem suit on, and we had to take our masks off in a closed room.
You never in your life saw grown men in such a panic. All that went through my mind was getting the hell out of there--it burned everywhere. That was tame stuff by comparison.
