All I can say is this person is an idiot - we do have a few up here in Canada.

Now that you mention it, we're stuck with a few down here.

Evidently, this boy has some anger management issues. But I would be careful to respond just to him and not to all Canadians. He's in the same category as that jackass Brooklyn politician in Washington yesterday who was obviously trying to evoke a response against all of "his people." So be sure to respond to these clowns directly and not to their cultural/ethnic group. End of sermon.

P.S. I am quite guilty of this myself especially when it comes to our European "allies."

I am afraid he is correct in the fact that most people could not care less about anything but their next Big Mac and favorite TV show.

Having lived the world over (I missed Europe and the Middle East I doubt they are any different though) I can honestly say that things are the same the world over.

And have always been this way. "Bread and Circuses" and what your neighbor is up to. America actually tends to have less of this sort. Evidence? Our (non-government) charity giving.

You are so full of BS...this DOES NOT REPRESENT WHAT MOST IF HARDLY ANY CANADIANS THINK OR BELIEVE...

Your ILL informed comment "This is nothing new for Canadians. They are vehemently anti-American" shows your stupidity.

I am American and I live in Canada at the present time...you need to get an eduction on how Canadians feel about America. Your view is FAR FAR from the truth.

This fellow is what we, in this neck of the woods, call a "matchbox". Administer an enema and he would fit into a matchbox with room to spare.

And, as an aside, we should remember the Canadian snipers awarded medals by our forces for their efforts in Afghanistan. Also, as I recollect, there were more Canadians
who fought in Vietnam than there were cowardly Americans who scurried across the border to hide.

Well said Chief- one can't help but always being amazed at how many people are eager to take a letter from an alleged Canadian and hysterically comdemn all Canadians. As you have pointed out it is unwise to attack any group because of the apparent actions of any one person. The United States, Canada and most other countries have many individuals who exhibit bizarre conduct and opinions.

Take one look at the garbage this so-called "Baltimore Chronicle" posts on their website, and you'll see that this letter fits right in. By posting this tripe on FR, you've actually given this hoser an audience. Sometimes it's best to ignore these losers and let them live their life of begging for loonies at Queen and Spadina.

I hear you, mon ami. I've known quite a few Canadians over the years, both personally and professionally. Most are good, decent people with only a few "dingleberries" mixed in. (About the same percentage as you might find down here in the lower 48)

This particular dingleberry remonds me of Calypso Louie...

The vast majority of you are spiritually, emotionally and intellectually dead.

Well, see, I could agree with the sentence in principle, but I could not agree with the author--I already know that his definition of "spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually dead" is just not the same as mine.

Never mind that earth-friendly technology already exists to once and for all end dependence on oil, coal and nuclear energy from huge, out-of-control utilities and corporations.

Canadian Electricity
Production: 567.193 billion kWh (1999)
Production by source: fossil fuel: 26.38%
                      hydro: 60%
                      nuclear: 12.31%
                      other: 1.31% (1999)

It's difficult to take this lunatic's hateful rant seriously, especially since he doesn't state what "earth-friendly technology" exists to end dependence on oil, coal and nuclear sources "once and for all".

Canada is blessed with abundant hydro-electric resources relative to the population size of their nation. I'm in favor construction of additional hydro-electric dams in our nation as well. Unfortunately, the enviro-extremists are opposed to that proposal as well.

I'm not sure what else can be said other than restating the obvious: the author of this article is obviously emotionally unbalanced and has absolutely no concept of the massive energy requirments of a developed nation such as ours. He would be much happier if he simply went on an extended camping trip in the remote wilderness, and stopped thinking about issues that are too complex for him to fathom.

I am in agreement that the U.S. needs to become less reliant on imported oil. The most direct approach to achieving this is to reduce consumption through the construction of modern, efficient, electricly powered mass-transportation systems in our nation's most densely populated regions and urban areas. And to supply such systems, the most enviro-friendly sources capable of producing the vast quantities necessary are clean-coal and nuclear technology.

The Baltimore Chronicle should have followed the WP's lead by not publishing this rant. This paper must truly be second-rate.

Not the Canadians...

Sounds as though you have never encountered the outpourings of Farley Mowat, the base class defining all Canadian nationalists. He's the guy who used to shoot at American planes when he saw them pass overhead. Of course, that was back in the day when Canadians could still own guns.
