Black Demonstrators Demand Slavery Reparations

Barron, a self-proclaimed "elected revolutionary," said if the government did not act swiftly he personally would storm the Treasury Department ( news - web sites) and take the money for reparations.

Black activist Louis Farrakhan told the crowd, "America owes the black people a lot for what they've endured."

"We need land for political independence, we need millions of acres," Farrakhan added. "We need payment for 310 years of slavery, of destruction of our minds and the robbery of our culture." {/B>

The United States, torn apart by the Civil War, abolished slavery in 1865. Some people argue that even 137 years after abolition, blacks still suffer from the vestiges of slavery.

U.S. Rep. John Conyers, a Democrat from Michigan, urged blacks to press their elected representatives in Congress to deal with the issue of slavery reparations.

"We want reparations -- not next century, not 10 years from now, but now," Conyers said. "These wrongs can only be corrected in the House of Representatives, only Congress can do what we want now. All congressmen ought to be here today."

You are correct. In fact, Abraham Lincoln himself proposed the transfer of former slaves to Africa or Central America following emancipation. Black leaders wisely turned down this deal, believing themselves to be Americans by virtue of their presence in this country for several generations.

Lincoln's offer should still stand, and it of course does by virtue of the possibility of Black emigration, but wise Blacks would do well to stay in this country, and wise Blacks would do well to reject the liberal policies which have kept them economically enslaved.

Muhammad Ali made a very telling comment after the "Rumble in the Jungle." When asked his impression of Africa, he said "Thank God my Granddaddy got on that boat."

Racial peace will only come after African-Americans reject that descriptive, "African-Americans", and become simply, "Americans"; such a change will only come after they reject liberalism and all of the harm liberalism has done to them.

The theory of reparations is a creation of liberalism, and it is a continuation of the baggage which liberalism has attached to Black Americans. Do the ancestors of Union soldiers who died manyfold to free slaves deserve reparations?

FNC website is reporting "hundreds" of blacks rallied today...me thinks this is closer to reality than thousands.

Ken McDouall of Durham, N.C., one of a handful of whites at the rally, said the reparations issue "cuts to the core of the history of injustice of America."

"America likes to pretend there are equal rights for everyone but look at the history of black people," McDouall said.

I wonder if he is a product of UNC-Chapel Hill...forced to read the Koran this semester.

No, first slaves were landed in Jamestown in 1619. The irony of that is they were indentured servants until one of those identured servants sued in the Kings Court in South Hampton County, VA to make one of his black servants a servant for life. Thus the perpetual African Slave was born in 1659. All done by a black man.

A few years ago the blacks set up a city, all their own, in Henderson, North Carolina, it was called Soul City.
I live in North Carolina and would drive through the area quite often.
It had to take millions to get the city developed.
New homes were built.
According to newspaper articles they had ther own shopping area and everything they would need to have the ideal lifestyle.
The entire place is abandoned, or it looked so from the highway.
It looks like the most isolated, deserted place.

I am sure we helped pay for this disaster.
