"This is the guy who's car was found near a bridge in Nashville?"
Since Nashville is 250 miles from the Mississippi, I doubt it.
This guy's car was found on the bridge in Memphis. The last I heard the belief was that he stopped his car on the bridge, got out to look, and a passing truck blew him over.

"The last I heard the belief was that he stopped his car on the bridge, got out to look, and a passing truck blew him over."That was one of the very weak theories floated about but, come on, how likely is it that anyone (let alone a relatively intelligent person) would "stop his car on the bridge and get out to look" ?
Just one of several very unusual deaths of some rather unusual scientists. No intent to imply anything other than "unusual"

The last I heard the belief was that he stopped his car on the bridge, got out to look, and a passing truck blew him over. Famous last words:
Sir, would you please step out of your vehicle... Why, certainly, officer....
