Does "La Tosha" mean "the tosha"?
Nearly four decades after the march on Selma, race and politics remain intertwined. Only now, the struggle is not over the right to vote, but who can vote for whom.
Hmmmmmm. Very interesting!
I'll take this at face value. No, La Tosha does not mean "The Tosha". Black mamas have a very different way of naming kids. La and Le are frequently appended to names, as is LeDon, LaKecia, LaShelle, LeMika, etc. Another one in the news recently was the baby Florida state DCS lost. Her name was Riwalu. Riwalu is an acronym for "Remember I Will Always Love You". Another in the conjunction of two other names. Ron and Dee's grandson is DeeRon. Another is the totally made up name like the famous "Beyonce". The movie "Booty Call" has a girl named "Lysterene". She says "but it's with a Y" Spelling is creative too.
Fun stuff !
