He did it because he was disturbed.What more is there to understand?

And why does it require such groping for a reason? Bad people do evil things because they are...evil.

Sorry,I do not think he was evil.Manson was evil,so was BerkowitZ,along with other sociopathic killers.To put Matthews in that group is wrong.Standing up in the beliefe of the constitution is not wrong,however it seems,in todays age,is a good way to get killed,by police.Waco and randy weaver come to mind.
