Oregon Possible Perp arrested in Two Girls Abduction

PORTLAND - Police arrested Ward Weaver--the man who claims he is the FBI's main suspect in the disappearance of 2 missing Oregon City girls--Tuesday evening on a seemingly unrelated rape charge.

Weaver was booked this morning at 5:30 a.m. on rape and sex abuse charges. Bail has been set at $500,000. Weaver is scheduled to be arraigned at 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Weaver was led into the Oregon City jail; as police escorted him into the facility, he told KATU News reporters, "I have no idea what's going on."

A 19-year-old woman claims Weaver sexually assaulted her inside his home Tuesday; she reportedly ran out of his house and hailed passers-by, one of whom took her to a nearby store from which they called police.
Authorities said the 19-year old alleged victim apparently knew Weaver.

She was taken to Willamette Falls Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Soon thereafter, authorities stopped Weaver in his car as he was driving along Interstate 205 at about 6 p.m. The alleged victim was reportedly taken to the hospital.

In an exclusive television interview in July, Weaver told KATU News he is at the center of the FBI's investigation into the disappearance of missing OR City girls Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis. The FBI has neither confirmed nor denied Weaver's claims.

Last week, Weaver told KATU that he is moving out of state to escape what he considers to be harassment by the FBI.

Weaver's home lies at the entrance to the apartment complex where Pond and Gaddis lived.
He has denied any involvement with their disappearances, but has said that the FBI has repeatedly asked him to take polygraph tests.

He reportedly failed the polygraph test he took, but he has said that is because it was administered improperly. Ashley Pond disappeared on her way to school on January 9, 2002. Miranda Gaddis disappeared at about the same time of day on March 8, 2002.

What a genius. Moving out of state certainly will bring the FBI's investigation to a screeching halt.....

She was his 20 year old daughter in law... who would have probably known his character... I smell a family grudge on this rape charge...

and a potential "diversion" for police. If this guy is the perp, it can't be good news.

I still hope they just ran away to Canada or something... and will see fit to contact the families or similar.

I don't like "neat little" packages. One cheif of police or county sheriff out here, was a molester... and it made the oregonian, along with an assistant or two... I wish I could find it... about four months ago.

We let a lot of violent offenders out of jail in the USA in the last decade to make room for the marijuana smokers... violent sex offenders, rapists and perverts. WE need to get our focus back in america. LEOS need to focus on violent crimes FIRST and FOREMOST... and leave the less essential items like speeding tickets and personal vices, for later after they get these rapes and kidnappings under control... imho.
