Oh, Happy Day!

The public schools are waging war on America's children.

How much did the fat kid, the poor kid, and the kid with the funny haircut get?

Hey! I was the fat kid and I'm still waiting for my money. But you know what it did to me? It made me tougher and helped me to develop a wicked humor. By high school, I could nail any of them...and the taunting stopped.

It's ridiculous that he gets any award because the students called him names. But from the article, it does appear that the Spanish teacher was out of line.

"Wonder why the school district didn't use your "flaunt" argument? They could have saved a bunch of money."

If in California, the 'school district' from the settlement side means the taxpayer. Another $130,000 + has now been directed from education to 'gay rights'. Why are the 'suits' always collecting from MY governmental units instead of the individual 'perps' who act without thinking? I didn't have anything to do with this person's 'victimhood', but as a California taxpayer my children will now be denied of those education $$$.

And an apology would be nice, too.

Ok. George, I'm sorry you're a homo.

'homosexual rights' shouldnt be in the school system, but the problem is the lack of respect for anyone. I wish we just had a simple credo for respect for all people and just leave it that. Our legal system causes extortion no matter what type of legal case it may be. Tort reform needs to be brought into California.

All students deserve safe and fair education where they can do the business of education. I certainly dont want conversation about sexual matters no matter if it's traditional or atraditional. I believe most Californians would rather have their youth studying reading, writing and maths and becoming successful citizens. The school calendar is valuable time and we should make sure it stays like that.

The problem is how do we end intolerance of all students no matter who they are while not having any political correctness indoctornation....

Why was he perceived as being gay? I don't suppose outrageously flaming behavior had anything to do with it.

That happened to me in high school. I'm not gay, never have been or will be, but a few people thought I was. Anyway, I ignored them for a long time, although it is hard to have the conservative beliefs I do and get falsely accused of being something I fundamentally oppose. They persisted in bothering me, calling me names, challenging me to fight them, so finally I got so p*ssed off with this happening day in and day out that I finally beat the hell out of the kid when he got up in my face, I pushed him into a locker and kept swinging at his head. He ran and I chased him down. I wasn't going to let up on him until someone took me off him or he was unconscious. Teachers broke it up and sent us to the office. I explained everything that happened to the vice-principal, told him why I did it, etc. Even told him that I have conservative beliefs and didn't appreciate being pegged as gay. The vice-principal basically agreed with me and was really hard on the kid that bothered me. I still had to get a detention "for the record," but I could tell that the principal fully understood why I fought the kid and that the kid brought my wrath on himself.

After that day, no one ever bothered with me again. As a matter of fact, I later became friends with the kid I beat up. And I didn't have to sue the school. Of course, that was quite a few years ago.
