For Wal-Mart to pay enough of a salary so my taxes do not subsidize their workers with the EIC.

Well gee, Senator Kennedy, why don't you just introduce another bill to raise the minimum wage?

OK, assuming that's so, then you should have a problem with the government, not wal-mart. An EITC applies to anyone, not just wal-mart employees.

I guess Wal-Mart still pays their workers minimum wage.

Don't seem to remember the "mom-and-pops" paying any better. In fact most of them paid even worse if you consider the total lack of benefits. I remember working at a "mom-and-pop" for $2.00 a hour under the table (they wouldn't put me on their official payroll). The minimum wage at the time was $2.65.

Just what is it you want?
For Wal-Mart to pay enough of a salary so my taxes do not subsidize their workers with the EIC.

This is a problem with the government not wal-mart. Besides, the evil corporations aren't responsive to the people anyway right? So lobby the government to get rid of the EIC and you're all set. I'm sure wal-mart won't fight you in that effort in any way.

At least the government will respond to your wishes won't they? After all, it's not like they're driven by some base motive like "profits".

Some people really know their place in life.

In one reply, you bash Wal-Mart for not paying their employees enough. In this reply, you bash people for working there and doing well. Perhaps you can inform us what you do for a living so we can all know our places more properly.

Cashiers (at Wal_Mart) in our area start between $6-7 per hour.
Great - so I have to subsidize Wal-Mart with my taxes that go to their employees via the EIC.
You mean as compared to subsidizing Clintonites like Robert Rubin and Citibank with multi-billion dollar bailouts to Latin America? Your ire seems rather narrowly focused.

Hmmm...working at Wal-Mart and doing well.

Isn't that an oxymoron.

I care about the well-being of people in general.

Sure you do - but your posts indicate otherwise.

Give a specific example from a previous post that you believe "indicates otherwise."

I guess we (euthanation), shouldn't be surprised that such an ad hominem attack come from a person (tuco-bad) who equates minimum wage with slavery. -- euthanation

How you deduce from that statement that I don't care about people in general is a mystery.

Not to me, not to me!
