Maureen McDermott is on Death Row at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP)Maureen McDermott should be executed for plotting her housemate's murder, the state Supreme Court ruled Monday in upholding the first death sentence of a woman in more than 25 years.

'... in this work [by Sydney Smith] there is naturally a chapter on self-inflicted wounds.''Oh.'
'Yes, oh. How a genuine wound inflicted on a person trying to protect himself or herself from an assailant with a knife is usually on or in the hand, sometimes the wrist, the inside of the wrist. That's point one. The characteristics of a self-inflicted wound are, made in a safe part of the body unless of course we're talking about throat-cutting et cetera, so not for example the inside of the wrist where there are dodgy things like veins but for example the forearm, the top or outside of the forearm.' He made gestures in case I had never bothered to find out what a forearm was. 'Where Susan, er, was wounded.
'Next thing, the cut will not penetrate what we medical johnnies call the true skin, that's your corium, a quarter of an inch or so deep in places like that. As with Susan's wound. Then, the cut follows the curvature of the body if that part is curved, like the forearm. You can see how that wouldn't happen with a real stab. I'd have liked to take a better look but it's a pound to a pinch of s**t that Susan's wound did that. And the last thing but perhaps the most telling, I've never quite understood why, but they all seem to have a dry run or two first, little tentative nicks alongside the main wound, even the cut-throat brigade -- I've seen it. Anyway, there were a couple of those on Susan's arm. And there we are. I'd take my chance with a jury on it.'

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Men, women, other... it doesn't matter...
Barely one per year is waaaaaaay too slow.
Gotta pick up the pace to work down that backlog.
She'll still be alive when I shuffle off this mortal coil. That she SHOULD be executed doesn't mean she WILL be. After all, Mumia Abu-Jamal is still alive 20 years after being sentenced to death in Pennsylvania. And there's still plenty of sand left in his hourglass, sad to say.
They can sentence females *&* males all day long for all that it'll matter; but, until they start carrying out the sentences for these sociopaths?
I'd have to say all the sentencing in the world, won't amount to a hill of beans.
Wouldn't you agree?
I mean, what did any prison really look like around 30 years ago?
How much of any given prison's space was allocated for Death Row?
I'd BET one would've found no more than one isolated row of cells were holding those awaiting execution.
Today?
There's one row of cells holding those doing their time; &, the rest of the entire place is holding inmates awaiting their just desserts in the electric chair, gas chamber, or the needle.
The entire prison system has over the years quietly morphed into one, huge, "Death Row."
Now keep in mind, there's a parasite-shiester attatched to each one of the misfits who've already been adjuticated -- most several times -- & are now WAITING to pay back the society they spent a lifetime (in most cases) terrorizing!
Here's the rich part, too.
Take one *guess* who's paying for these bloodsucker-sheisters AND the misfits A to Z they're "representing" the whole damned long way??
Yea...I said it was *rich*, huh.
"A cold-blooded murderer is a cold-blooded murderer, no matter what the gender."
Now you know what you meant saying that, right?
~& I know what you meant by saying that, too.
But...know what a sheister hears when s/he hears that?
"Sheister paydayS are about to be prolonged even moreso.
...nuts; just nuts.
Shame this ain't Texas.
Texas court denies review of condemned Mexican citizen's case
Yup.
Just one, I'm afraid.
...you're too damned smart as it is. :^)
