"Stories found here often may never make national news, or are hidden by the liberal media."The opposite also happens regularly. I think some of the more conservative types in the media "mine" this forum for angles and stories. More than once I have read an article on a subject after FR has tore into it and lifted ideas directly without attribution. That is okay with me. I want to see the mainstream stealing our ideas.
I have been readibg FR since it was called Whitewater Files. I never watch TV for news unless I am computer deprived. You get more news and freewheeling analysis here than any place on the planet.

I think some of the more conservative types in the media "mine" this forum for angles and stories. I'll second that. I'm all-the-time seeing items on Fox News Channel, where I think, "Hey, that was on Free Republic lasat night!" H&C, Brit, Shep, all of those shows.

This is a fantastic site.
Also, I like the idea of the media using ideas presented here for their stories.
However, I believe that they should clearly and explicitly credit FreeRepublic.com when they lift ideas from this site.
Why? Well, how many new members and donors does this site lose out on because the audience of Fox - for example - never realizes that a piece they're seeing is based on content that first appeared on FreeRepublic.com?

The opposite also happens regularly. I think some of the more conservative types in the media "mine" this forum for angles and stories. I know that's true. One of my posts last summer appeared in an LA Times story five days later verbatim. The really fun part was that story went on to be the biggest political embarrassment to Dan Blather to happen, possibly, in his entire career. THAT made me feel great, and gave me a marvelous sense of accomplishment.
