ABU DHABI, AMMAN AND BEIRUT
POLITICAL observers and analysts see the recently exposed briefing to the Pentagon, which branded Saudi Arabia as a terrorist country, as the machinations of the Zionist lobby in the White House.
Contacted in a number of Arab capitals, they said Zionist lobbyists in the US are targeting the Kingdom because of its steadfast support of the Palestinian cause and its total rejection of relinquishing or bargaining on Arab right to Al-Quds and the occupied territories.
In Abu Dhabi, Muhammed Khalifa, executive director of Zaid Center, regretted the surrender of the US administration and the White House to such false reports masterminded by Israel supporters. Noting the unique status of the Kingdom in the Islamic and Arab world as a country which has always sought to maintain world political and economic stability, he asked, How can such a country become an enemy that needs to be destabilized by the US?
Dr Averop Kozentensov, Director of Novosti News Agency in the Gulf Region, said the threats in the briefing of targeting Saudi oil fields should not be taken seriously.
Although the US is in mess and is suffering from megalomania its madness will not reach the extent of taking such a terrorist and hostile step against a country like the Kingdom which has always been trying to make the world s and America s economy stable, he said. It is most dangerous for the US administration to allow support for Israel to extend to the filing of such a false report.
He continued, The entire world knows that the Kingdom s main endeavor is for world peace and stability, particularly in the Mid-east. Saudi Arabia s support to the Palestinian cause should not misconstrued as support to terrorism; the Palestinian people are simply exercising their right to resist and thereby liberate their occupied lands. Yet, all this while President Bush is supporting Israeli terrorism by supplying the Israelis with lethal and destructive weapons which are used to torture and kill the Palestinians in cold blood under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
In Amman, Fouad Dabour, assistant secretary general of the Baath Progressive Party, attributed the Pentagon briefing to the Zionist lobby. These politically motivated campaigns are meant to distort the image of the Kingdom and create public resentment so as frustrate Saudi efforts to achieve a just solution to the Palestinian issue and a withdrawal of Israel from occupied Arab lands to pre-1967 lines.
It is surprising that the briefing report hinted at targeting the Kingdom s oil fields and its other interests, especially since the Kingdom has been supplying American and European industries with all their oil need. It is plain to any political observer that this report is directly linked to the Kingdom s rejection of any strike against Iraq by the US. We know that the Kingdom s stand in this regard is far-sighted, that a US strike against Iraq will drag the region into a disaster of far-reaching repercussions.
Antwan Hadad, a Lebanese parliamentarian, said, Saudi-US relations go back decades and I don t think they will be affected by such a clandestine report. At the same time we can t deny that after the September 11 attack, we are experiencing a bad time with the US assuming the role of the attorney general of the entire world. It is a sad situation that poses a crucial question: When will the US resort to sound reason? Obviously the US has become hostage to international Zionists and this report is nothing but a product of this situation. Therefore, if the US does not look thoroughly into its interest in the Arab world, we will experience lots of disasters:
George Najam, another Lebanese parliamentarian, said those on the Pentagon s advisory board are known for their hated toward Arabs and Muslims. The campaign is but one of several kinds of pressures being exercised by Israel against anyone or any country which supports the Palestinian resistance and legitimate claim to their lands. This explains the American reaction of branding them with terrorism while, ironically, turning a blind eye to Israel s flagrant violations of human rights in the occupied terrorities. .
He added, Undoubtedly, the US is trying to exploit its Arab friends in the service of its interests and those of Israel. But the Kingdom will never fall for such a ruse and will remain steadfast in favor of the Arab world and for the restoration of its usurped rights.
Yeah, that's where I always go for unbaised opinion and 'fair and reasonable' reporting.
What else have the terrorist-spawning and terrorist supporting
Saudis done since their attacks against the US on 911?
ANSWER: Telethons to fund more attacks on Western democracies.
Just keep on whistling in the dark boys, just a little longer.
Sort of like Jesse Jackson and company, everything bad is because of the bogeyman: whites to Jackson and Sharpton, and Zionists to the Islamists.
Do these same unidentified "political observers and analysts" see the fact that 19 out of 20 hijackers on 9-11 were Saudi Nationals also as a "Zionist Lobby plot"? Did those poor Arabs forget to wear their tinfoil turbans to protect themselves from Zionist Mind Control Rays?
If further provoked, we have the power and the will, to overturn every last government in the arab medeival world. That we didn't do so in the wake of 9/11/01 is due to our humanity and sanity; qualities not present in their "religion" and "culture."
I was very pleased that the subject report was purposely leaked. It keeps the fools (even more) confused.
Ever notice that the dissenting (sane) arab/muslim voices are almost from those safely outside of arab countries? Contrast that with honest debate, from both sides, publicly, in our system. We aren't perfect, but we are better.
My intuition is that unofficially, behind the scenes, the leaders of every arab country are SCARED sh!tless, should another terrorist act be traced to an origin in their country. Therefore, their own police are probably doing overtime, looking for potential terrorists (which is what we ordered them to do).
They saw film of Afghanistan, and of the sneak left hook into Iraq in 100 hours. Will it be by air, land or sea (or all three)?
The arabs have big mouths, and nothing to back it up with. We can back up what we say, and the leaked report put Saudi on notice, for the gravity of the situation.
You're damned straight it's "far-sighted". Of course you have to translate a bit. "A disaster of far-reaching repercussions" means the influence of broadly representative governments in Iraq and Iran. The "disaster" therefore is a wave of democratization hitting the Arab world and leading the corrupt Saudi princelings to be tossed out on their ample clymers.
Ignore the bluster. Behind the scenes I suspect the Saudis have been informed that this is their last chance. Either they get on board with the war on terror now, in return for which the U.S. will stand by the Saudi regime post Saddam, or the U.S. will phase out the "special relationship" (as post Saddam Iraq ramps up oil production, and pipelines are built to bring Russian oil to Mediterranean ports) and leave them to deal with the changed conditions in the Middle East on their own.
