What the H!

What makes the difference? We've had people vote for a proven draft-dodger and sleazebag....

Besides, we need the comic-relief!

I thought they would have to reside in the district.
Is the prison in his home district?

What's the prob? What's a little formal conviction of one member amongst the other distinguished gentlemen in a den of thieves?

I agree. I know we have many in Congress who are crooks and I am not proud of what that says about the mentality of the voters in this country; however I have a serious problem with someone running for Congress who is actually in jail at the time, for whatever reason they may be there.

I voted yes and, seriously, I think Thomas Jefferson would have too. (How else would political prisoners ever get out?)His constituents have the right to decide, not the feds.

Poll is still running.

Cartoon in today's The Washington Times: D. Chang and J. Traficant are sharing a prison cell.
Chang: "I made illegal contributions to Senator Torricelli. What are you in for?"
Trificant: "For not being a senator."

Here are the latest poll results:

Yes 54.99 % (788)

No 45.01 % (645)

Total Votes: 1433

Since this poll is no longer featured on the Vindicator front page, there are fewer folks now voting in it. Most of the votes will now come from the FR. Only about 80 more votes will put the YES category in at over 60% so please vote in this poll. Remember, if you voted before, you can vote AGAIN. One vote per day allowed.

Vote HERE.

Why not? Just about every criminal you can imagine is involved in all aspects of our country and appear to be winning.

Traficant was run out of office. The forces of government were used against political opposition. And the Republicans were happy to go right along. Tell me what the current Republican leadership is good for. Nothing!

The whole government is nothing but a shell-game sham. One ruling political elite predending to be on different sideS and us saps cheering on one side or the other. And as long as we are cheering, they are happy.

Your rights are continually being taken away. The constitution is now a worthless shred. You are taxed over half of your income. People that are not citizens are being allowed to vote. And a guy that stands up to tell you about it (and put some reasonableness into IRS actions against taxpayers) is run out of office and thrown in jail.

Does this sound like America? Change the spelling to Amerika and you are closer to reality. Saps, were all saps.

Also, there is a quite excellent editorial by Tom Adkins (a fellow Freeper) that I think would be good reading for you. Link Here

I think it would be highly unfair, and an unprecedented departure from tradition, to require that Democrats comply with the law.

Constitution says that he must live in the district he represents. Since the prison is not in that district, he should be prohibited from running. If he wants to represent the district in which the prison is located AND the voters there want to elect him - sure, let him run. Though I have no idea how, under the current House rules he could vote on any issue.
