Did you get this from the Koran?
No my Dad used to say it. The way I see it is how differently women think than men. That's why a man is never going to really understand women. I love a line in one of Billy Joel's songs "She's never wrong she just changes her mind".
Can't understand normal thinking. There is a common slang word which actually was an acronym but with time it was basically lost. Just take the first letter of each of the 4 words at the beginning of this paragraph. So you see women have had men rolling their eyes or sratching their heads in disbelief for a long long time.

I just have a "sixth sense" when I'm in cities. You do know where women's intuition comes from, right? It evolved from millions and millions of years of not thinking!!!

Must be why I'm a CONSERVATIVE.....NOT.

Women can't read maps - and real men don't need maps. And you're never lost 'till you run out of gas.

Men don't ask for directions because they can't understand them! They need maps. I need a house with a horse on it.
(landmark in my neighborhood - a brick house with an iron horse ornament)

No surprise to me.

I hardly ever use maps unless I am pressed for time and need to get there the shortest route possible. I like to explore backroads and find several ways of getting to a particular destination. I know so many shortcuts in the Boston area that I hardly touch an interstate highway anymore (and I don't often get stuck in traffic jams either).
I almost never get totally lost because I have a keen sense of direction. Just looking at where the sun is in the sky, I can instantly determine North, South, East and West. Of course, this ability doesn't help me much on cloudy days.

Now...
That was definitely uncalled for and below the belt.

Women will even give you directions using landmarks that aren't there anymore! "Turn right where the Dairy Queen used to be." Well, then, women must write the phone books in Costa Rica, because...
When I was there the firs time I had the need to go to the United Airlines office in downtown San Jose.
So I picked up the phone book and sure enough there was the address:
"Diagonally across the street from where the American Embassy used to be."

but Piltdown_Woman is my nom de plume and thus a bit of a "fraud", since I don't care to reveal my true identity. Must be Ann Coulter...

Its basically true that women do not follow maps easily, just as we are not spatially oriented or naturally analytical...but like any other thing, pratice goes a long way. And a good teacher who has patience is a bonus. Its not that we're incapable, we just need a little help on the subject.
I did get lost coming home from ReelFoot lake once. I was convinced I was heading home to Memphis until I crossed the Mississippi River into Missouri. LOL

I see everyone is giving you a hard time about your screen name. I thought at first it had something to do with quilting or something to that effect, but obviously was wrong after looking it up.
Etymology: Piltdown, East Sussex, England
Date: circa 1918
: a supposedly very early hominid erroneously reconstructed from a combination of human and animal skeletal remains the latter of which were later found to have been planted by a hoaxer
It is a rather curious choice for identification, but I have seen much worse. Once we had a freeper named "textureslut." Go figure.

I'll look for the 4th palm tree on my right and turn there.
Dude, if you follow those directions, you'll be lost for DAYS.
It's simple. Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning.

Can you give me directions to Las Vegas from Kentucky? I'm all ears...LOLWe aren't totally incapable. We just need a good tutorial on the subject, not being naturally inclined in the area. But I'd point out that many women aren't analytical either, but once taught how, we can be formidible. I am so glad someone took the time to teach me because I love to knee cap liberals with logic and analysis.

Brave personal disclosure, :)
Actually, the counter to this article is that in most cases, men (I'm using myself as an example) WON'T read maps.
I've taken some shortcuts to places without consulting a map and the shortcut took 3 times longer than the regular route would have.
I was on my cycle so I really didn't mind one bit.

I can read maps. Have an excellent sense of direction. Can give precise directions. And can draw detailed maps. Need I say more?

Men don't ask for directions because they can't understand them!huh? are you talking to me? oh, now i am with it...
of course we understand directions. it's just that it translates to "hang a right, turn left at the first light, second at the third light and left into the parking lot. enter grocery store and buy a 12 pack..."
