The people that I have met from the Illinois, Indiana, Ohio region have been, without exception, stand up-down home people. People that share our love of small towns, high school football, home grown "maters", Cup racing, fishin', baseball,Etc....

I agree with this. But for me, I'll take Cleveland, Columbus, Nap-Town (Indianapolis), Chi-Town, and Rockford. In other words, I'm an urban Midwestern blueblood.

They just talk a little different.

Ya think? ;-)

But seriously, my jab at billbears was tongue-in-cheek. He's a big-brutha. The vast majority of Southerners here I truly like. I even have a Confederate battle flag on my profile page (not something you'll see alot of with other blacks). I'm living in the South now and dig it (although I've yet to get used to the summers after 9 years). I spent every summer as a kid in Arkansas. North Carolina is by far my most favored Southern state (surfin' on the beach one weekend and skiing the next, all within the same state). The only state, Southern or otherwise, that I don't care for at all is Louisiana. I see now why they call the mosquito their state bird.

And, as a compromise to my Southern bruthas with a lighter hue than mine, I'll keep my son's hip-hop away from you just as long as country is kept away from me.

But fire up some bluegrass and it's all good!

Ain't nothin' wrong with that. I enjoy an Urban enviroment every now and then.

Thanks for your support of Dixie, She sorely needs any she can get.

Your son's rap doesn't bother me at all. I'm kinda partial to Cypress Hill, Biggie Smalls, and Nelly along with 70's randb, jazz and blues. Along with my whitebread love of Southern classic rock and some classical.

My original comment was derived more from the working class aspect, the majority of which make up the populations of our respective regions.

Country music is great. You may want to try it out some time. It's relatively clean, patriotic, often about family, faith, life, etc. Good Stuff.

Contemporary Christian is right up there, too.

I think Blues to Blues Rock (the best rock) is and has always been the best musical union of black and white and I'm proud my home state (which oddly escaped being the armpit most frequently mentioned....I guess favorite whipping boy state will do) ...anyhow, I'm proud my home state is undeniably the birthplace from which the blues sprang. A pic of Son House ( Robert Johnson is merely a runner-up)hangs on my wall....if I could only get my scanner to recognize it's drivers again, I'd put it on my profile page.

Regards.
