WASHINGTON -- Vice president and fund-raiser extraordinaire Dick Cheney's appearance in Fresno today is supposed to rally the GOP faithful and crack open their wallets.
With tickets selling for $250 and vice-presidential photo opportunities offered for an additional $2,000 per couple, congressional candidate Dick Monteith hopes to clear at least a quarter-of-a-million dollars. That will boost his campaign against Democrat Dennis Cardoza, for the seat held by Rep. Gary Condit.

Coelho, though, says he's skeptical about Monteith's chancesThat was BEFORE Cheney came to town, boys. For victory & freedom!!!

I know how to ping people! (We have not forgotten; Gary Condit's ROTTEN!) For victory & freedom!!!
To: Diver Dave
The most recent survey made public, conducted for Cardoza's campaign, showed the Democrat up by 22 points, leading Monteith by a 54-to-32 percent margin. Note: Monteith has a habit of winning in Democrap territory.
To: Saundra Duffy
Media gleefully playing a soundbite of a woman shouting that Cheney is a corporate crook......

Did you see the man in chicago who set the bag on fire? He was shouting death to both Bush 1 and Bush 2.
To: OldFriend; Saundra Duffy
I saw that. MSNBC broke into a show to ALERT us about it.
I imagine CBS/ABC/NBC will lead with it tonight!

Note: Monteith has a habit of winning in Democrap territoryI hope but this is not Condit's district - post-redistricting. Many hard-core democrats (sic) were moved into the district.

I work for an organization that has a rather sizeable PAC, and a membership that is overwhelmingly conservative. Monteith came and spoke to our organization. He was uninformed, ill-prepared, inarticulate, and came across as a doofus. And this was the assessment of people who are inclined to vote for him. As much as it pains me, I think Coehlo's assessment is accurate.

CNN had some on live or at least I saw a couple minutes of Q & A at the very end.... one on Iran, one on Halliburton and the last on his VP candidacy in 04 and his health. They also followed up with the clip of the protestors....

BTW, Howlin, seeing your post reminded me: I haven't seen much Bush-bashing on FR recently. Frankly, just for fun, I was thinking of posting a new discussion thread under the title, "Bush is the Greatest President Since Lincoln!" just to see what happens.

I hope the White House hasn't put the wraps on Cheney in terms of press availability. He, more than anyone else in the Republican Party leadership, knows how to handle the press.

He is excellent with the press and did a good job on the 3 or so questions I saw him take. I think they've isolated him some lately because of the Halliburton flap. He basically said he wasn't going to discuss the Halliburton information as there are too many reporters with pen to paper wanting to write anything said and would accuse him of trying to limit or influence the investigation.... It's an ongoing investigation with the SEC. He did however encourage all to go to the Halliburton web site and review the extensive and very detailed answers provide in a Q&A recently done by the current CEO and CFO. I think they were interviewed by some Wall Street group, maybe the Stock Exchange.

LOLOL what what what did they ALERT about......the backpack fire or the disruptor at Cheney's speech........LOL
To: deport
The jokes about Cheney being in an undisclosed location began immediately after Sept. 11th. How convenient of the media to forget that and suggest that this is a new development.
No doubt the threat assessment briefings make it mandatory that our beloved President and Veep not spend too much time together or that Cheney's location be made too public.
I am not going to allow the media to misrepresent the TRUTH.......
To: OldFriend
About Cheney getting heckled. Broke into Curtis and what's his face......honest.

The media still doesn't get it.......and they wonder why no one is watching them and their influence is diminished considerably.
