Jeremy Hylemon, 15, will be buried today. For days relatives thought he lay injured in the hospital, but instead it was his friend.

Last night, two families united by unspeakable grief -- and a confounding case of mistaken identity -- continued to grope with something one matriarch could describe only as a '' 'Twilight Zone' thing.''

The same happened recently in Lansing, Michigan. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the parents were mostly at "fault" because they misidentified the remains.

Friend of mine had something kind of like this happen to him about a month ago. His son shared a house with another guy. Son's room-mate accidentally shot himself and died. Police called my friend and told him his son was dead. He made funeral arrangements and spent nearly an entire day thinking his son was dead, then got a phone call from him. The kid who died's mom found out when the insurance people showed up to discuss his life insurance policy disbursement.

This is really a sad and strange story, but not one I have any trouble believing or understanding. I had a close family member go face and head first through a windshield and I can tell you that it's very hard to recognize the face of the person after something like that...even someone you've known all your life. The swelling is unbelievable. My cousin's head was more than twice it's regular size and every feature on his face was disfigured in some way. He recovered and healed , thank God, but I wouldn't have known it was him if I hadn't been told.
