I don't know, and therein lies the problem. Can you give me a link to a page that gives detailed FR tax returns, with salaries, expense accounts, and the like? Unless you come completely clean, there's always that nagging doubt, "Hmm, I wonder what they are doing with all that money." Just be honest and up front about it.

Just to be honest, since you post here, and are so inquisitive, about others personal information, why not post yours? You don't have to offer a dime to this site, why would you demand such information?

I wonder if he asks to see all that information when he buys a burger at Wendy's.

Why should you care? What business of it is your if Mr. Robinson is flying a lear or starving in a cardboard box?

Gee, I dunno, whose business is it whether Ken Lay flys a Lear Jet or Bernie Ebbers pilots a 100' Hatteras Yacht?

If you're gonna be in the business of begging for other people's money, it seems to me that you owe them an explanation of how you spend it. It's what we prudish old neanderthal types call accountability.

Otherwise, ditch the not-for-profit pretense altogether, and charge $49.99 a year for subscriptions. Then it really will be JimRob's money, and he can do with it whatever the hell he pleases.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but four quarterly $75,000 fundraisers gives a budget of $300,000 a year. If you figure $10,000 a month for about 15Mbps from the local telco, that's about $120,000 a year for bandwidth. Throw in, say, $30,000 a year for hardware and miscellaneous overhead, and that leaves Jim & John Rob with $150,000 in pocket change. Not bad for a non-profit.

Just be honest about it:

Hi, my name is Jim Robinson, and last year I paid myself a salary of $75,000. This money came from donations to the FreeRepublic LLC.

Hi, my name is John Robinson, and my Dad pays me a salary of $75,000. This money comes from donations to the FreeRepublic LLC.
