Here's a new one on me. Remember Al Gore claiming that the movie "Love Story" was based on his and Tipper's relationship? I read last night that Gore and Tommy Lee Jones were freshman roommates at Harvard and Jones played one of Oliver's roommates in "Love Story" That's pretty much it.

As with everything Al Gore, it's a stretch, but I bet that's where the tale came from. But Blockbuster says its true here
They forget that Eric Segal (you know, the author) said, "um...no that's not right..."

Gore, the Messiah Excerpt:
The Truth. And praise be to Al Gore, the Truth Teller.
But does Gore mean the truth that he opposes, as he wrote, the "forces of greed"? Or is he referring to the truth that he readily made multiple fund- raising phone calls to fat cats from the White House?
Gore told voters it was the truth that he vowed to take on Big Tobacco after his sister died of lung cancer in 1984. And then there's the truth he told North Carolinians in 1988, that "throughout most of my life, I raised tobacco," hoed it, chopped it, shredded it and sold it.
No surprise a Pew Research Center poll found that only 13 percent of Americans believe most of what Gore says.
And he doesn't help his cause by turning every crisis or potential crisis into Armageddon.
Thanks for posting this, OEB ! Good one!
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

LOL! Al Gore, what a joke. I hope he runs in 2004 and I hope he wears lipstick again at the debates.
This guy flips and flops more than a carp out of water.

I was in Washington DC a few years ago, and went out with my girlfriend at the time to a karaoke bar in Alexandria, VA (we were thirsty). Anyhow, a fellow came up to sing who was obviously taking himself far too seriously, going for the Willie Nelson look except much stiffer. My girlfriend, who was American, said, "Hey, he's got a corncob shoved up his a**!". The name caught on and everyone was shouting at the fellow, "Get off Corncob! Go away Corncob!", etc.
Perhaps that treatment should be applied to Corncob Al? ;)

This was in the
Chronic? Pigs are circling at SFO...
Algore's been told so much by so many "experts" on how to present himself that he's about eight different fancy frames with no picture inside. Saunders is right about lack of introspection, and I get the impression that the reason for it is that in a very fundamental way this poor mannequin doesn't know who the hell he really is.
