The reason that 80% of Puerto Ricans responded to being white is not because they have prejudice believes it's only because they didn't like the options available to respond in the census why don't we address a REAL problem, that of the RACIST Dominicans who treat the Haitians like crap. Dominicans always complain about they're African racial make up. All Dominicans are black or are at least half black yet they go on saying that they are Taino indians and that the real black people in the the Dominican Republic are Haitians. Dominican women spend hours straightning their hair and making their skin lighter. I'm tired of Dominicans and I personally think that every single one of them should get deported from Puerto Rico.......Why you may ask? Because they steal jobs from us Puerto Ricans......Why? Because they steal space from us Puerto Ricans......Why? Because they're lazy and love to abuse the American system by collecting welfare. If you don't believe me then take a trip to Puerto Rico. I saw tons of Mexican restaurant when the Mexican community in Puerto Rico is virtually non-existant, and I didn't see one Dominican restaurant. Everthing that comes in contact with Dominicans turns to crap. Puerto Ricans were in New York City for years.....Now they've invaded New York City and are pushing the pioneering Puerto Rican community out with their lazy welfarers, prostitutes, and drug dealers.
Open your eyes Puerto Rican and any Non-Puerto Rican living in Puerto Rico. Do you really want these Dominicans to keep invading Puerto Rico? I mean they're saying 10,000 Dominicans enter Puerto Rico each year. What's it gonna' come to? There's no doubt and that they're are invading our beautiful island of Puerto Rico and it needs to stop.
Don't label me as a racist, I'm not, I just dislike Dominicans who destroy my nation, steal jobs, and are ungrateful that we Puerto Ricans helped 'cause when they get to NYC they talk all this crap about Puerto Ricans and Puerto Rico. I'm compare these lazy Dominicans many of whom have been in Puerto Rico for years and have yet to do something with their lifes. I mean look at the Cuban community they came to Puerto Rico and they flourished and all the Cubans that arrive in Puerto Rico flourish. You don't see Cubans stealing our humble jobs because they work so-hard that they own the big companies like Doral Financial which is Cuban-Owned, like WAPA-Radio which is Cuban-Owned, and many others. I don't care if you're not Cuban all of the other people that come to Puerto Rico the Mexicans, the Mainland Americans, the Venezuelans, the Arabas, The Indians (From India), The Colombians, The Haitians, have all done something with their lifes. I'd say the only solution to this problem is militarizing the West Coast in Puerto Rico.

Thanks for your response, Boricua. I posted this article awhile back, but it deals with what is still a very contemporary subject for, not just Puerto Rico, but the entire globe.

There definitely exists a double standard in our world when it comes to leveling the charge of racism at a particular group.

I have been to Puerto Rico before and after this article was written. I have met many people in Puerto Rico and those residents that were born on the island of Puerto Rico and remain are predominantly 'white'. That 80% 'white' figure from the Census 2000 is accurate. There's no getting around it, Boricua.

IMO, poor, uneducated, black Puerto Ricans and convicted-criminal Puerto Ricans of ANY color are motivated to leave the island by Puerto Rico's 'white' elite in the exact same way that non-'white' Mexicans and criminals are being forced over the U.S. borders by Mexico's white elite.

Tell us how many 'black' elected officials there currently are in Puerto Rico's local government versus how many 'white' Puerto Rican officials there are.

Name the last 'black' Puerto Rican governor of Puerto Rico and the year he or she was elected. Rosello or Sila Calderon, maybe? Not!

Try and name a black candidate for governor, even. Carlos Pescara or Ruben Berrios, maybe? Not!

Name a black resident commissioner! How about Carlos Romero Barcello or Acevedo Vila? Not!

Name the most popular 'novella' (soap opera) on local Puerto Rican television and name the 'black' actors and actresses in leading rolls. Solome, Mujer de la Madera, who is that, Edy Gonzalez? Yeah, she's real black. sarcasm

Name a popular 'black' Puerto Rican television talk show host or hostess on local Puerto Rican televsion programs. Luicito Vigoreaux, his co-hostess Desiree or maybe the two they 'El Gorda y La Flaka', Raul y Lilly? Do they look black to you? Do they appear to even be slightly dark-skinned to you?

Have you heard the most recent jokes that Puerto Ricans tell about Domincans? They're extremely un-politically correct.

C'mon Boriqua, you're the one that needs to take another look at what's going on in Puerto Rico in respect to race relations.

Next time you visit, take your sunglasses off. ;^)

Re-read your posts. Holy smoke, if any 'Anglo' said half of what you said about Puerto Ricans or anyone else they'd be labeled a racist, skin-headed, nativistic, nazi, xenophobe by the race-baiters here on FR.

I don't know you well enough to make that decision, yet. Some of what you said was a little dicey. Well, maybe alot dicey but, for now, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt until I see more.

You say that you're against illegal immigration in Puerto Rico, New York City and the rest of the United States, for a host of what you feel are legitimate reasons, other than race?

I say, 'Join the club!'

LOL! You want to militarize the west coast of Puerto Rico?!!

You do know that the U.S. Navy was just recently forced to leave the east coast of Puerto Rico and the island of Vieques?

IMO, that was championed by Puerto Rico's corrupt politicians, because it interfered more with Puerto Rico's illegal drug trade on it's east coast and not illegal immigration on it's west coast.

What's your opinion?

Maybe the Dominicans should stay in their own country and work to improve it.

When you get around to answering all the responses to your first and only posts on this Forum, name all the black Miss Puerto Ricos that have entered the Miss Universe Pageant and the years they won.

I'm sure if Puerto Rico is as unprejudiced and predominantly black as you say it is, that shouldn't be hard to do. Right?

Most of the Miss Puerto Rico Pageant winners must have been black.

The only recent winners I can think of look like 'Casper the Friendly Ghost' and Puerto Rico's present governor, Sila Calderon.

LOL!

IMO Boricua, George Herbert Walker Bush has a better chance of winning the Miss Puerto Rico Universe Contest than a beautiful, dark-skinned girl from anywhere.

Dick Cheney has a better chance of winning the Miss Puerto Rico Universe Contest than a beautiful, intelligent, black girl born in Puerto Rico to Dominican parents legally residing in Puerto Rico.

What's your opinion, Boricua?

Hey, if you can't name or produce any pictures of black Miss Puerto Ricos, how about some pictures of black contestants?

LOL!

Boricua, 80% of Puerto Ricans told the 2000 U.S. Census takers that they are white, BECAUSE THEY ARE WHITE!

Take a look at these pictures:

2003 Miss Puerto Rico Universe Candidates

2004 Miss Puerto Rico Universe Candidates

Out of these 100 contestants, which ones look black-skinned to you?

LOL!

I was doing some research for a book I'm writing and came a cross your interesting little comments about Dominicans dated 8/2/04. And I thought I'd take the time to go over your comments with you. So you're tired of Dominicans, isn't that too bad for you. It sounds to me that someone needs to come out of his little dark world a little more often. Most Dominicans are on welfare, huh. Well let's see. The store you shop in, WE OWN IT! When your girlfriend/boyfriend, whatever- wants to look pretty, the place they go to, WE OWN IT! According to a recent article, there are more Dominicans in college than Puerto Ricans, so guess what, WE OWN THAT TOO! The Reggaeton you're all going crazy about, guess who puts together most of the beats, yeap, we do, so guess what - WE CAN OWN THAT TOO! That's the real problem facing Puerto Ricans. Sure, you were here first, but you've got nothing to show for it. We're a bunch of drug dealers, drug pushers? Well take a little walk around the bronx and meet your compatriot dope users and crack heads. I'm usually way above all of this cattiness but for today, I'm coming down to your level. Steal your jobs? You don't want to work anyway so why do you care. Lazy Dominicans - how can we be lazy if we're stealing your jobs? Think about it genius. Get over yourself and stop making excuses to dislike us. Everywhere we go we leave a positive mark. Dominicans are black and racist? Why are you so caught up on skin color. You may write down "white" on the census but at the end of the day the real "whites" see you differently. Don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise. I'm tired of Puerto Ricans trying to put Dominicans down because they've got personal issues since the entire latin community looks down on you. GET SOME THERAPY AND GET OVER IT!

Look who's talking! I'm Puertorican and I'm ashamed of the lack of progress we have had after being introduced to the U.S. almost 100 years ago. How dare you bring judgment on the Dominicans for looking for an opportunity in the island when the welfare/common wealth minded people in P.R. are always complaining about the man and taking for granted that they are blessed to be immediate American citizens, yet they come here and 2 generations later the majority still don't encourage a college degree from their children. The vast majority don't take advantage of being here in this great country. The island is at an economic crisis because they don't want to pay taxes yet wreak the benefits of the government's aid. Mediocrity runs rampid, social stupidity, immorality and the wrong ideals are passed on to the next generation. They are happy with their low paying jobs while they act like they are the hottest thing on the block, imitating the urban/reggaetton style instead of improving their social skills and raising more politicians, doctors, architects, etc... Not too many out there per ca-pita in the U.S. is there! Dominicans in NY have had more progress in 20 years than the Puertorican community has had in 60. The racism towards Domincans and the horrible jokes I hear coming from the native Puertorican people makes me sick. Amazing, from a race that amongst other Hispanic races are considered as lazy, ignorant, arrogant and simpleton people. Shame on you! Here's some food for thought; the same way Puertoricans joke about how Dominicans are dumb, stupid, ugly, etc... Cubans also make jokes about us Puertoricans as inferiors. I guess we all have some part in the racial comments food chain. Look at yourself and your race in the mirror before you go belittling others. I'm Puertorican and I have full right to opinion-ate my observations. It's the sad truth but it's our reality. One more thing, you actually call the Dominicans prostitutes, drug dealers and welfarers. Look in to the stats in Orlando, FL. Their is a major influx of Puertoricans moving their and crime, and murders have gone up. Allot of them are movig in bringing their old ways with them. They already speak of the South side of Orlando which is mainly Puertorican as a low life area. How about them apples!!! Use your energy for a real reason. Shame on you, shame on me! There are many great thing about the Puertorican people, like their big hearts and friendly, festive ways, but the foolish, anti-gringo idealism they follow supersedes all other attributes they have to offer. Instead of "Yo soy Boricua" how about "My son is a Doctor" I think that says allot more.
