PRISTINA, Yugoslavia - Eight people, including a former rebel leader, have been injured by a rocket launched against a restaurant in western Kosovo, a military spokesman reported Sunday.
The incident happened Saturday evening in Pec, some 85 kilometers (53 miles) west of province's capital Pristina, where the rocket was fired, said Capt. Paolo Fanin, a spokesman for the NATO ( news - web sites)-led peacekeepers. The rocket did not detonate. Several shots were also fired at the restaurant, he said.
The eight people injured in the attack were taken to the town's civilian hospital. None of them suffered serious injuries, a statement said. Among the injured was Tahir Zemaj, a former rebel leader, said Igor Yudin, a U.N. police spokesman.
Zemaj headed a rebel faction fighting Serb forces in western Kosovo during the province's 1998-99 war. That faction was allied with the party of Ibrahim Rugova, who is now Kosovo's president.
Following the attack, peacekeepers found one of two cars suspects used to flee in burned in a nearby village. A second car was stopped by peacekeepers at a checkpoint in the area and its three occupants were handed over to U.N. police, Fanin said. Their status was not known Sunday.
Police said the incident was under investigation, but they ruled out political motives behind it.
There is NOT going to be any peace there until the USA/NATO stops siding with Albanian butchers.
One thing that would help is that for every Serb home destroyed three Serb homes are built in its place...and, then word should go out...for every Serb home destroyed the number of Serb homes built will be TRIPLED each time.
1 home gone, 3 built; 2 homes destroyed, 6 built....and so forth. the albanians blew up 5 homes the other day...now, UN needs to re-build 15.
Just an idea...only an idea....and A WISH!
vooch is the one who seems to know which Albanian commanders controlled which region, and any feuds or power stuggles going on between them.
RIGHT!!!! And as long as Kosovo is under illigitimate Shiptar muslim control, it will become more and more a wasteland of savagery!!!!
This is despite the best efforts of all the "experts", NGO's and "humanitarians" who are trying to "rebuild" Kosovo as a Shiptar-muslim state, and despite the millions of dollars that the "international community" is funneling into this misguided project. All that effort and all that money are going into a sinkhole!!!!
The main thing that is needed to change that totally gloomy prognosis is to rememember that Kosovo is Serbia, and act accordingly!!!!
don't have time to look this KLA killer up.......but this was Ramushes ZO. It is no secret that the Remi versus Ramush cliques have been infighting for quite some time.
But be reminded that they don't say who were the customers of this cafe. It may have been frequented by Kfor/UNMIK occupation forces.
".........My question of the day is the following?
With all the chest-pounding and PRO-Serb postings, what do we all or you expect to accomplish? Is it venting only to fill space, or true feelings in 'fending the Serb cause/culture?
I am curious as there are numerous non-Serbs on here. There are Serbs on here who are/were of age to have taken up defense of YU during the bosnian civil war and the Kosovo Civil War, but never returned.
What do you expect out of this forum, Tropo and I were talking about this last night, as we just laughed. There are a few on here that are residential experts on every single topic/region. Yet, some of those people are a liability. There are a few others on here that are well-meaning that I applaud (spar, vooch, voronin) and enjoy their rebuttals and research effort.
There are others who pick and choose certain past historical scenes that have intimate episodal knowledge. They are an asset to their cause/side, unlike a few on here who is adamant in professing their accurate Jamie Shea/Rubinesque lies/distortions.
Point blank, it is fun to watch the bantering from a few select posters on here, the entertainment value is worth more than the weekend at the Opera. There is not a challenge from many on here to refute Gorazde, Srebrenica and Sarajevo. A physical presence as a tourist weighs in more than an inernet google search or laboring over a DoD or DoS workstation desk who relies on unreliable documents..........."
NATO or anybody else are and will be impotent to prevent a wide spread crime that, like a cancer is spreading all over Balkans! This attack is just one of many over politics , about tribal(Albanian) fights and feudes, teritory, money, drugs and...list is to long!
Lest we forget, I came across this the other day - a choice comment from George Robertson:
Friday, 24 March, 2000, Robertson: Kosovo one year on
..."You're not going to create Switzerland in seven months," he told the BBC.
"The level of violence in Kosovo is still too high, but it's lower than it is in Johannesburg and lower than it is in Moscow today.
..."I hope that that is going to be the pattern for the future: many more multinational formations, essentially keeping the peace and occasionally having to make the peace in the first place - but inculcating values of democracy which will ultimately remove the tyrants like Milosevic."
The Nato countries spent billions making the mess and have not achieved the stated aim of a peaceful and multi-ethnic province. Why does nobody ask them about their failures? How many hospitals and schools could they have built instead of destroying so much in a country which was no threat?!
ethnic conflict + religious tensions + economic pressure + traitors + envy + fear + hate = DIVIDE and CONQUER.
Alas, poor Yugoslavia....somebody knew you, ALL too well.
