berned, AdA$tra is one of my favorite people on FR so please be kinder. We do not all have to believe the same thing about Revelation. It is not essential to salvation, therefore not essential to Christianity.

I would never say that a future Pope will be anything at all in the end times. That is hurtful to my Catholic friends and who can predict something like that? Could a future Pope be evil? I suppose anything is possible...who would have thought a Priest could be a child rapist? But an evil person could take over any protestant denomination potentially too. I mean, why single out Catholics?

Of late I've had to ask myself if I am being totally objective to side unequivocally with the Jews. They aren't always in the right. Usually they are, but there have been incidents where they went too far imo, assuming you can get the whole truth from either side.

I understand where you're coming from. I support the Jews from both a moral and Biblical point of view. But you're right. They've committed their own moral atrocities at times. I hope they continue to try to take the moral high road.

I have grown to greatly admire and appreciate Catholics, both ones I know personally and ones I know from afar. People of faith really need to stick together because our rights are not what they used to be in this country. Together we can change that. Apart, we'll destroy each other. I mean CONSERVATIVE people of faith, and not just Christians. Sure, I believe Jesus is the only way to Heaven and I'll never change that belief, but unless we support each other NOT A SINGLE ONE OF US is going to have the freedom to practice our own beliefs. You know what I mean?

II THESSALONIANS

2 THESSALONIANS 2:1 Now we beseech you brethren by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and by our gathering together unto Him,

Paul is saying; I'm here again to get a few things straight concerning the second coming of Christ and our gathering together to him.

2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind or be troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by any letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Don't be fooled or confused, and don't let I Thessalonians confuse you.

2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

What day is Paul talking about? The Lord's day. Paul is saying that the gathering back to Him shall not happen, until there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. Who is the man of sin? Who is this son of perdition? It's Satan. What does perdition mean? It means sentenced to death. There has only been one entity who has been sentenced to die and that is Satan. Some scholars and people say that this is Judas. But that won't fit. You see, Judas was not sentenced to death. He repented and later died from his wounds.

2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

So what is Paul saying? He's saying don't let my first letter fool you. Christ is not coming back until Satan is revealed sitting in the temple of God, claiming to be God.

2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

The subject here is Satan. The word "Letteth" is a transitive verb. This means you cannot change the verb that's being used. The subject and object here is Satan sitting in the temple of God.

"He who now let's", who is this? Who holds Satan now? Revelation 12:7 Michael the Arc Angel holds satan. Satan's evil spirit is live and well on this earth today. But he is not here personally.

II Thessalonians
2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.
2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.
2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

What lie? Satan's lies. God wrote this Bible for you.

I don't worry about whether they think I'm going to Hell. My concern is how they treat me and the things I care about in the here and now. If they believe in a free and strong America, if they believe that Israel should be similarly prosperous and free, if they believe that people should be allowed to worship freely in the US as they please, if they believe that criminals should be punished and that abortion is murder, if they believe that the public schools do a rotten job educating our kids and it is up to us as parents to take the bull by the horns and do something about it, if they believe that it takes a family, not a village, to raise a child, then the 'Christian Right' are my allies, regardless of what other doctrinal differences a secular, Reform Jew like myself may have with them.

Revelation is very difficult and no one knows how it will happen exactly. When I went to Logos at John MacArthur's church in California (non-denominational but very mainstream evangelical, conservative) and we studied the doctrine of end times, they said "know one knows for sure...you can still be a Christian and a post or au (spelling ?) millennialist...etc...but they were premillennialists as I am." It is good to read and study Revelation. It is not good to fight over it.

I have the utmost respect for AdA$tra!
