"It's just going to be fabulous," :-|

Pathetic. And more evidence that liberalism warps the mind so much that even basic maternal instincts must be publicly bent to its sway.

Why do people seek to shove THEIR personal issues in other people's faces? It's just so tiresome.
Also, the story mentions the woman nursing who who showed "too much cleavage"-- One need not show any. It is possible to nurse in such a way that nothing shows, so that people are only aware that you are nursing by the way you are holding the baby.

to try for a world record in simultaneous suckling. Any cute girls out there who want to participate that don't have any children I'll volunteer my services for this noble cause. ;-)

A small sheet, blanket or whatever is used by modest women to fully cover up, but of course using discretion is deemed archaic and repressive to the morally-challenged in Berkeley.

Should this farce be a "success," you won't believe the record attempt that will be proposed by the director of the city's supplemental infant defecation program.

Just remember, if your kid is old enough to ask for it, it's probably time to stop putting the teet in his mouth

I agree! They just have to push their agendas off on everyone else!
My first son who is 21 years old now, was breast-fed and still suffers from horrible allergies, my daughter (now 19) was bottle-fed and has NO allergies, my youngest (now 18) was bottle-fed and has allergies. They are all healthy as horses. The breast feeding made no big difference one way or the other, and since I HATED IT immensely, it was NOT a good situation. If you use sterilzed bottles and formula made with soy milk, according to directions, it is just fine. The whole "breast is best" issue came about in the first pladce because women in poor/undeveloped countries didn't have anyway to sterilize bottles and nipples and they often watered down the formula to make it go farther. That is not a wise choice. If you can't sterilize the bottles/nipples and can't afford to use the formula according to directions, breast would be the alternative. But babies grow up healthy either way. It is more important that you love them than which kind of milk they receive.

Socialists are obsessed with an individual'S production. TUrning motherhood into some cow 4H fair is their goal. Of course it is fabulous for the "farmers", the intellectuals of Berkley.

"the story mentions the woman nursing who who showed "too much cleavage"-- One need not show any." Do you want to set up a government agency to test women on their technique and license them?

Babies need to be fed. Breast milk is the best thing to give them. You can express milk but it goes bad if you're out for several hours. And we should encourage a baby-friendly culture.

You can't make reliable inferences from three cases. Smoking causes cancer, but I'm sure you can find two smokers who lived to be 70 before dying in a car crash and a non-smoker who died of cancer at 40.

The whole "breast is best" issue came about in the first place because women in poor/undeveloped countries didn't have anyway to sterilize bottles and nipples and they often watered down the formula to make it go farther. That is not a wise choice. If you can't sterilize the bottles/nipples and can't afford to use the formula according to directions, breast would be the alternative. You have it backwards. Nursing is the natural way to feed a baby. Bottles and rubber nipples should only be used if the mother cannot nurse. People in undeveloped countries always nursed until formula was introduced, and most of these mothers still choose to nurse. Wise choice.
As for allergies, it is often just genetics, regardless of the the way a baby is fed. A mother's breast milk is, by far, the best nutrition for the human baby. The mom's body nutured him/her for 9 months and this is a continuation of nature's way of nourishing this baby. Studies are now proving what Mother Nature has always known to be true.

What about women that don't have cleavage. Can they bear all since no cleavage is present?
To: NormsRevenge
This is a boring record.
Why don't they try something a little more competitive. Say for example, a contest that measures the amount of milk dispensed from a lactating breast. The winner would be the one able to produce the greatest volume of milk in a set duration of time.
Now that would be a contest!

And in Europe breast feeding in pubic is a non-issue. Here's one case where America is backwards in comparison. How many years do you think it will take before we catch up on this point, if ever?

And more evidence that liberalism warps the mind so much that even basic maternal instincts must be publicly bent to its sway. Ya gotta admit, the private sector is at least partially to blame for its advertising propaganda that convinced women that their aritificial baby formula was in every way superior to what Mother Nature provides.

Small cleavage, big cleavage, showing cleavage, hiding cleavage ... I can't see what the issue is here. We're talking about mothers feeding breast milk to babies.
To: Eala
"Pathetic. And more evidence that liberalism warps the mind so much that even basic maternal instincts must be publicly bent to its sway." I think the point of the protest is to goad people into saying something stupid.
To: ConsistentLibertarian
Please read my post with your glasses on. Where did I say anything about a government agency? Why don't you try reading what I said instead of what you think I said or instead of jumping to conclusions? [PS: I raised 4 children, none of whom were bottle-fed. I have experience in the matter.]
