Note: We wouldn't need anywhere near 50 trillion to pay it off, either. And think about land and property and buildings for a second. How many homes are there now worth over 100,000? Over a million? The answer is too many to count, and we counted up all the value of land and housing in the US I'm sure it would be far higher than 5x the value of the stock market

100 million homes at 100,000 a pop is 10 trillion (its late, and maybe my zeros are off), and the government doesn't own a one.
